The big LEGO PlayStation leak from the past few days has become a reality a few minutes ago. Sony officially unveiled the original PlayStation building kit during State of Play together with LEGO, and I have to say that if you grew up on Sony's first console like I did, you probably won't be able to resist this beautiful piece. This is not just a small decoration for your shelf, but an almost 1:1 replica of the legendary console, complete with a controller and a few really cool surprises.
The LEGO PlayStation consists of a total of 1911 pieces and when assembled, the console is approximately 26 centimeters wide. Sony directly states that the scale is close to the real PS1, so the resulting model should look very faithful next to the original console. Of course, the kit also includes the iconic original PlayStation Controller, which can be connected to its front panel, just like the real console.
The small hidden details are probably the most magical part of the whole set for me. For example, the Power and Open buttons are functional, and like LEGO, Sony has also hidden references to the history of PlayStation in the kit. The biggest surprise is the two small dioramas inspired by the games Gran Turismo and Ape Escape, which can be inserted directly into the console or displayed separately. Gran Turismo has received minia real racing circuit including miniature cars, while Ape Escape offers an island with a monkey, whose blue and red light on the helmet can even be changed.
As for the price, the LEGO PlayStation will cost 159,99 euros, which is quite acceptable for this type of set in my opinion. I have not been able to find the official Czech price tag at the moment, but the set will probably be listed soon. It will go on sale on October 1st via PlayStation Direct in selected European countries, and LEGO Insiders will also be able to pre-order it from that date. Regular sales through LEGO will start on October 4th.

So what can I say in conclusion? For me, as a fan of the first PlayStation and LEGO building sets, the final appearance is perhaps even better than the previous leak suggested. 1911 pieces, almost life-size, a controller and, most importantly, hidden game dioramas make the LEGO PlayStation a building set that is not only aimed at LEGO fans, but especially at gamers who spent their childhood with the PS1. And I think LEGO will pull out the few thousand from them quite easily.
However, it is available directly on the Lego website for 3900,-
