Until now, the LEGO Super Mario series has been based primarily on electronic figures of Mario, Luigi and other characters, with which players went through individual levels and collected virtual coins. Now that is changing significantly. LEGO has announced a total of eight new building sets that will offer Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, Peach, Toad, Bowser Jr. and other familiar characters in the form of classic LEGO minifigures.
The cheapest new item will be LEGO Super Mario Mario's Pipe Jump (72052) for $9,99. It contains 61 pieces and Mario with a Goomba, with the lever being used to shoot the Goomba out of the way so Mario can get a coin. For $14,99, Racing with Mario (72054) will arrive with 84 pieces, a small racing set with Mario's go-kart and a shell shooter.

Personally, I find Mario's Beach Adventures (72055) more interesting, which will offer 196 pieces and cost $19,99. Mario appears here in a swimsuit and there is a beach, a snack stand, a deck chair, waves and the enemy Sidestepper. Pro For younger children, LEGO has also prepared 4+ sets Luigi & Bowser Jr.'s Race (72056) and Yoshi at Mario's House (72057). The latter offers Mario's house with a garden, bedroom, kitchen and green slide.
The highlight of the first wave is the larger sets. Bowser's Rumbling Race (72058) offers 409 pieces, several racing vehicles, Biddybuggy, Zoom Buggy, Bowser Bruiser and even a LEGO cow. Even more interesting is Fire Mario & Bowser's Castle (72060) with 850 pieces and a price tag of $99,99. In it, Mario sets out to rescue Peach from Bowser's castle, which is full of traps, lava balls and a secret chest with coins. The entire first wave is closed by Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle (72061) with 241 pieces. Here, Luigi can be shot from a cannon directly at a tower occupied by a Koopa Troopa.

All new kits are scheduled to go on sale on January 1, 2027. And in my opinion, the transition to classic minifigures is one of the biggest changes that LEGO Super Mario has ever seen. After years of Mario being a bit "different" in LEGO form, oneIt really brings him to a scale where we can build him alongside other classic LEGO figures. And if LEGO continues in this direction, I think we have something to look forward to in the years to come.
