Perhaps the biggest shock is then Apple TV, which brings relatively little new compared to the previous generation, but its price tag has moved quite significantly.

The cheaper version lacked not only Ethernet, but also Thread. Which is smart for controlling home greater tragedy. Only things supporting the Matter over Wi-Fi, which is a minority of products. So it was simply more of a TV player for people who don't need a smart home. But imho Apple Home is still a misery. Those who do not want to limit themselves with anything will reach for a professional solution, or Home Assistant. The new ATV would make sense if it brought a must-have feature or a must-have controller. Better performance is nice to have, but it's not a necessity. If I were to single out what's interesting, it's the AV1 codec.
I also have the 3rd generation. But I have a Philips Hue Sync Box connected to it with Light Strips on an Lg TV and I can play everything on it, including classic digital broadcasting. And Oneplay on which I have basic channels, at all nestIha, it crashes and crashes. How many times do I have to turn it off and on? And the remote control..

In mid-December 2025 I bought a new, but actually "old" Apple TV from 2022 for 4.223,- including VAT. I have been waiting for a new one for many years Apple TV, but for 7.990,- I definitely won't go for it. MagentaTV and VLC player work without problems, the speed is sufficient. I was afraid that at the end of 2025 it would be a waste of money, but today it turned out to be a great buy!
