Garmin officially introduced the new generation of its premium fēnix sports watches a few minutes ago, and it must be admitted that both of these models are really worth it, and I dare say that even from the perspective of users Apple Watch they can impress. The new fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro they bring several fairly significant changes, and Garmin has not focused only on traditional sports functions this time. With the model Pro it adds a titanium body, satellite and LTE communication, a significantly brighter AMOLED display and, in the case of selected variant also solar charging.  The basic fēnix 9 starts at $999,99, while the fēnix 9 Pro They start at $1099,99. Both are available in 43, 47, and 51mm sizes.

fēnix 9 got significantly better AMOLED

Garmin fēnix 9poneIt has a 1080p AMOLED display, which is now twice as bright as the previous generation. It also has scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, sealed buttons, and is water resistant to a depth of 40 meters.  The watch also has 64GB of storage, which is double that of the fēnix 8. Garmin says it can store up to 7000 of your favorite songs and download significantly more maps.

Navigation is also expected to be significantly faster. Garmin has used 50% more RAM and a new map engine, which should make map scrolling up to 30% faster. Perspective views have also been added to make it easier to navigate the terrain.

Garmin Epic combines multiple activities into one story

An interesting software innovation is Garmin Epic. The function can Garmin Connect combine several activities from different days, weeks or even months into one coherent story. For example, a user can create one “Epic” from a multi-day trip, add photos to it and then share it with others.

Garmin has also improved the tracking of stamina during sports. New stamina fromoneThe stamina curve is designed to show how a user's stamina changes over time as they train and improve their fitness. The watch is designed to help them better estimate when to cut back and when to add more.

fēnix 9 Pro for the first time in titanium and with great durability

Even more interesting are the fēnix 9 ProThese are the first generation of fēnix to feature a titanium case. Garmin used a special nano-molding technology that combines metal and plastic at the molecular level. The result is a stronger construction while reducing the thickness and weight of the watch.

AMOLED display on Pro then it will offer brightness up to 3000 nits. The largest 51mm variaThe nta also has the largest display ever in the fēnix series. It measures 1,5 inches diagonally, which is a 15% increase over the fēnix 8 without increasing the size of the case itself.

And the battery is probably one of the most interesting things about the new Garmins. The fēnix 9 can last up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, while the fēnix 9 Pro will reach up to 31 days. Selected models Pro They also support solar charging and can offer up to 57 days of battery life in ideal conditions. Garmin calculates this figure based on all-day wear and three hours of outdoor use per day in 50,000 lux lighting.

Satellite and LTE even without a phone

Another big news Pro models is integrated tooneactivity inReachThe user can communicate via satellite and LTE, send messages or activate SOS in an emergency without having their phone with them.

Also new is Garmin Locate, which allows loved ones to contact you via Garmin Messenger track the user's location. In addition, the watch can receive weather forecasts for a specific location via satellite or LTE. Interestingly, inReach is now available in all three fēnix 9 sizes Pro – i.e. 43, 47 and 51 mm.

A green flashlight has also been added.

Garmin hasn't forgotten about any of the features that users of its sports watches have come to love. The integrated LED flashlight now has a green mode to help preserve night vision, for example when moving outside after dark.

New fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro It feels like a fairly thorough shift for the entire line. Garmin isn't trying to change its basic philosophy, but it's adding faster hardware, better displays, more sophisticated training features, and... Pro models also tooneactivity that can be really useful for outdoor activities.

And especially with fēnix 9 Pro It is clear that Garmin wants to offer a watch that will be not only a sports tool, but also a truly premium piece of hardware. Titan, 3000 nits, satellite communication and up to 57 days of battery life is a combination that can attract even outside the world of hardcore athletes.
