A few years ago, the idea of thousands of rocket launches a year sounded like pure science fiction. But today, SpaceX sees it as a realistic plan. Elon Musk's company has officially confirmed that it is actively looking for new locations for the construction of the most modern spaceports in the world, not only in the United States, but also in other countries. The reason is simple: the only Starbase in Texas is far from nestSpaceX's ambitions with Starship. According to Reuters, SpaceX wants to achieve thousands of Starship launches per year in the future. For comparison: the entire world currently manages about 230 to 250 space launches per year. SpaceX is openly talking about more than ten times the current global capacity for just one rocket system.

Starship is not just a rocket. It is a plan to rewrite transportation and the internet When most people hear the word Starship, they imagine a mission to Mars. But Mars is only part of the whole plan. Starship is supposed to be a universal transportation system of the future that will be able to transport people to Mars, launch giant Starlink V3 satellites, transport cargo around the planet, and one day, perhaps completely change long-distance travel on Earth. The last point is perhaps the craziest, but also the most fascinating. SpaceX has been working on the concept of so-called “Earth to Earth” travel for several years. In other words, a rocket will take off from one part of the planet, fly briefly through space, and land on the other side of the world in tens of minutes. If this concept were to become a reality, it would meanonec today's long flights. The times that SpaceX has presented in the past sound almost absurd:

  • New York → London: 29 minutes
  • London → Hong Kong: 34 minutes
  • Dubai → Los Angeles: 39 minutes
  • Tokyo → Singapore: 28 minutes
  • Hong Kong → Singapore: 22 minutes

Today, some long-distance flights take 12 to 17 hours. Starship will not fly just once in a while like today's NASA rockets. SpaceX is designing it similar to an airplane, i.e. a system capable of rapid reusability. If Earth to Earth were to really take off, it would mean a completely new type of transport with an enormous frequency of flights. However, as you well know, we have already heard a few visions from Elon Musk, and it is definitely impossible to say that we would meet the Tesla Roadster, which was supposed to be sold five years ago, or that Semi Trucks would be somehow expanded trucks. So we will see how it turns out with Space X and its Earth to Earth travel.
