Today marks exactly two months since I exchanged his iPhone 13 Pro Max za iPhone 14 Pro and subsequently started using it as my primary phone. Since I have already had a little bit of experience with it, I think it is appropriate to briefly review one of its most striking innovations on today's two-month "anniversary" - namely Always-on display. It has been causing controversy among Apple fans practically since its introduction, because it is simply different from Always-on, which we are used to from Androids. So how does this feature affect a person after two months of daily use?
First of all, I have to admit that a few years ago I had never seen Always-on actually nothing very useful, because I didn't mind turning on my phone every time I checked notifications or the time. However, when I first really "touched" it on my Apple Watch, I understood that the constant display of time and other elements simply makes sense and, although it is not a revolution, it makes using the product more pleasant because it is de facto one action – i.e. turning on the display – faster. Therefore, when they started appearing in connection with iPhones 14 Pro already more or less confirmed speculations regarding the fact that Always-on we'll see, I was really happy because I believed that the usability would be what I'm used to from my Apple Watch.
To be honest, my expectations were only partially met. Concept Always-on for iPhones 14 Pro On the one hand, it is incredibly well designed, but on the other hand, it is essentially a full-fledged Always-on It has so far been perceived as a black screen with a few distinctive elements displayed in miniThe minimum refresh rate of the display is to minimize the impact on battery life and at the same time to ensure that the elements are not distracting when the screen is locked. However, the reality is that if you set a photo as your wallpaper, as I have, even after a good two months it will be somewhat unaccustomed to seeing it constantly displayed, albeit in a darkened format. This sometimes makes you intuitively lock your phone again, because you don't realize that this is actually how it should be. Always-on function as such. Yes, it could be solved with a black wallpaper on the lock screen and a different one on the home screen background, but that doesn't seem like a particularly good solution to me.
What about me Always-on Another thing that annoys me a bit is how prominent it is. Not that it's really bright, but I can certainly imagine that the brightness of the display would be a little lower and that would save battery power. Especially in the morning, when I turn off sleep mode, the glow from the bedside table with the blinds closed is not exactly ideal. So, in my opinion, the option to reduce it would definitely be in place. And quite honestly, in my opinion, some fine-tuning of the flies, which are AppI still haven't been able to figure it out. I mean, for example, that my phone locks up extremely quickly from time to time (or switches to sleep mode). Always-on), even though I'm reading something on it and I'm constantly scrolling through the text (so it's not possible for a static display to activate Always-on). Sometimes they may even get upset widgetya other times I don't really understand why my phone turns off completely when I'm with it, I have it activated Always-on and on the hand Apple Watch, which should give him a constant echo about when he can and when he can't go completely dark.
Although the previous lines may sound quite critical, I must say that the positives outweigh the negatives. The main positive Always-on However, in my eyes, the result is "only" what I wrote in the introduction in connection with Apple Watch. In short, thanks to the fact that certain information is constantly displayed on the screen, a person is freed from the need to wake up the phone, because they can see everything "at a glance". Personally, I have my phone attached to a magnetic stand next to my computer when I work, and it's great when I have it just thanks to Always-on the ability to see, for example, incoming notifications without my display completely lighting up, or can I see constantly thanks to widgetI want to know the status of things I want to see – for example, the humidity in the apartment, the temperature outside, and so on. In other words, iPhone se thanks for me Always-on It has become, to some extent, a kind of standby display for my Mac, which I can just glance at without any other activity and immediately know what and how to do.
As for battery life, because I switched from the model Max for a classic 6,1″ phone, of course I was offended. But I have to add in one breath that I absolutely do not feel that I am in a bad way in terms of stamina and that I have Always-on turned on since day one iPhone 14 Pro I use it. So, in my opinion, worrying about it draining your battery at lightning speed is completely pointless, because its energy consumption is quite negligible compared to other tasks. And if you do Always-on annoying, just turn it off and the problem is gone.

So if I had after two months of use Always-on To briefly evaluate it, I would say that it is a successful, albeit perhaps a bit "cheap" element that can certainly improve user comfort. If it is then Apple in the future, he decides to open it up more with various adjustments - either in the form of reducing the brightness or making it easier to adjust the black - then I think there really won't be anything to complain about. And if someone finds the reasons, no one will ever take the deactivation away from him.

I have 14 Pro Max and I have to say that I am really disappointed with always on. After two weeks I turned it off.
First, form wins over function here. Needlessly. AOD is simply supposed to work differently = display a quick overview in the shortest possible form. In the current implementation, 99% of the content on the phone screen is displayed as wallpaper.
Second, battery life. It will probably have a lot to do with the feeling of the tests on YouTube, which showed a fairly significant impact on battery life under certain conditions. In my opinion, it shortens the battery life by about a fifth. Which seems like a lot to me. Especially when the main benefit is only to display the wallpaper + nitifications / statuses by the way.
If it would at least allow you to set a different wallpaper for AOD than for the lock-screen, the situation would be much better.
In beta 16. 2. you can set what should be displayed on the AOD - notifications, wallpaper, etc.
I like the sentence "however, in its essence it is actually a full-fledged Always-on does not act", paradoxically it is exactly the opposite - it is the only fully-fledged Always-on (regardless of usability).
It's about the viewing angle. The dimmed display brightness in my opinion Always-on It really isn't, although as I write in the article I don't have a problem with it.
So it's still like more AoN than what Android offers, but cool.
On the contrary, it seems to me to be a complete fulfillment of the concept of Always-on-display.
According to the dictionary, it means: Always on display (just type it into Google translator) and if there is always something on the display (the term does not mention anything about what brightness it should be), then it is Always-on-display.
"On the contrary, it seems to me to be a complete fulfillment of the notion of Always-on-display"
you're basically right, but what's the point of seeing e.g. wallpaper permanently on the display of a sleeping phone, it's important information that's useful to be displayed
AOD in administration Applu is total shit.
Master, what's the use of having the wallpaper permanently displayed on your screen? I'll tell you, fuck it and eat the battery 🤣.
Oh, and on an iPhone with 1 Hz, the AOD eats more than on my almost 4 year old Android with 60 Hz 😄.
What makes it better than Android? I don't see a single advantage.
I congratulate you Master, you have just won the title of descendant of a sheep with sheep 🐑🐑🐑
I've been waiting for 2pro for 14 months now, so I can't judge :-(
Maybe next time. 🤷♂️
I did this after my experience with Always on Display on all other phones.onech and unfortunately even AW which burned out on me I would rather not even leave it on and I don't even think about turning it on because I don't want to have a phone that burns out after a year. (Don't tell me someone that it won't burn out because it's a feature of the AMOLED panel) and my phone costs 43k Pro Max I really don't want to give my wife a year's notice.chat destroyed…
yes, it doesn't seem to me that 1Hz of such muted brightness would be able to burn out the display..
On the Samsung, the AOD shifts gently, so burn-in can't happen. I don't know how Ape is doing.
Zdenda, you're a fool aren't you 😂😂😂
