There are products that you know exactly what they are for, how you will use them, and what to expect from them at first glance. And then there are devices that make you wonder whether they are a technological gadget, a practical helper, or more of a toy for technology enthusiasts, but despite the initial embarrassment, you still buy them.onec the device actually starts to be fun. I would put Enabot EBO in exactly this category Air 2 Plus, a small robot that at first glance resembles something between a futuristic pet and a robot vacuum cleaner. But while the vacuum cleaner's job is to clean, this little one tries to watch over the household, communicate with its inhabitants, entertain pets, and offer something extra thanks to artificial intelligence. And since this piece recently arrived in my office for testing, it's time to introduce you to what it actually is.
First impressions after unpacking
I admit that similar products always manage to interest me quite a bit, not so much because I have a need to have more electronics at home at all costs, but because I like it when manufacturers come up with something a little different than what we are used to. And EBO Air 2 Plus is quite interesting in this regard. At a time when you can buy a security camera for a few hundred crowns and a smart speaker for several thousand, Enabot comes up with a device that tries to connect both of these worlds and, in addition, give them literally wheels, or rather rubber bands, thanks to which it can move around the home independently.
The question, of course, is whether it is a truly useful solution or just a technological curiosity that will entertain you for the first week and then end up forgotten in a corner. In my opinion, this is more important when evaluating a similar device than the number of features themselves. OR Air The 2 Plus certainly doesn't look bad on paper. It offers a 3K camera, artificial intelligence, two-way communication, automatic patrolling or its own charging station, and it also has a pair of animated eyes, which makes it seem much friendlier than a regular home camera. So if someone finds a use for such a device, they will be satisfied with it not only in terms of technical specifications. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Technical Specifications
Enabot EBO Air 2 Plus is a mobile home robot equipped with a 3K camera with a wide 137° viewing angle, and the camera is one of its most important components, as it allows you to monitor what is happening in your home from virtually anywhere you have an internet connection via a mobile application. Thanks to the camera, the robot also has the ability to recognize and motion tracking, which allows it to respond to the presence of people or pets and take photos or videos.
The movement is provided by rubber tracks, which allow it to pass over smaller obstacles and move on various types of surfaces. I tested driving on a floating floor, tiles and a foam children's rug, and the robot performed without any problems on all these surfaces.
As for charging, the robot has a function of automatic return to the charging station, where it replenishes energy to the integrated 5000mAh battery. The manufacturer promises several hours of active operation and from my own experience I can say that three hours of relatively active riding can be squeezed out of it. Of course, the more you give it to move, the faster it will discharge.
Unsurprisingly, there is also the option to plan automatic routes along which the EBO will move, or to control it manually via a mobile application.
Communication also plays a big role in this little companion. EBO Air 2 Plus supports two-way audio and video, so it can be used to communicate with household members. AI is also available chatbot using language models ChatGPT a Gemini, which is supposed to handle natural conversation and answer questions, and which also supports Czech, which is definitely nice.
A nice detail for me personally is the pair of displays representing the robot's eyes, whose appearance, colors and animations can be customized. The package then includes the robot itself, a charging station, a power adapter and a 32GB microSD card for storing records. The price on the Czech market is 9,990 CZK.
Processing and design
If I had to choose one thing that I would... Air What sets the 2 Plus apart from regular home cameras before you even turn it on is its design. Enabot clearly didn't want to create just another electronic box with a lens that you put on a shelf and then forget about. Instead, it opted for a rather nice-looking robot with a round body, a pair of expressive eyes, and a design that resembles a kind of minithe nature of a futuristic reconnaissance vehicle.
And in my opinion, the eyes are one of the most interesting design elements of the entire product. The two digital displays, whose quality is quite solid by the way, can display different expressions, change colors, follow you or react with animations to what the robot is doing. Thanks to this, the robot's expression can look different when charging than when moving or communicating, but at the same time, thanks to this gadget, you can know, for example, how the update is currently going and so on. Of course, this is primarily a visual matter, without which the device would be able to function exactly the same, but it is such details that can decide whether the robot will seem like another piece of electronics or something that the household members will really like.
Plus, the cute eyes can make it easier to accept the robot into the household. Our little daughter was afraid of it at first, but when we played with its eyes to make it like her, she started to like it.onec had a lot of fun with him because she saw him as a playmate to some extent.
The movement itself is also quite interesting for me, where instead of classic wheels the manufacturer has opted for rubber tracks, which should ensure better passage over various surfaces and at the same time allow overcoming smaller obstacles. The advantage of the track solution is primarily stability and the ability to move around the household more smoothly than would be the case with some simpler designs. Of course, it cannot be expected that the EBO Air 2 Plus can climb stairs or get over any obstacle without any problems. Of course, we are still talking about a small home robot, not an all-terrain vehicle. However, during the test, it had no problem overcoming classic home obstacles such as a transition strip, moving from tiles to carpet, and so on.
The manufacturer also thought about situations where the robot falls over while moving or playing. Thanks to the design that allows it to return to the correct position, it should be able to stand back up on its own, which I can confirm from my own experience. That's why I like the overall design of EBO. Air 2 Plus seems like one of its biggest assets. It's not a device that tries to be inconspicuous. On the contrary, it wants to be seen, move around you, and in a way act as part of the household, and that's where its philosophy differs significantly from classic security cameras.
Testing and usage options
For devices such as Enabot EBO Air 2 Plus, I think the most important thing is to answer a relatively simple question, namely, what do you actually need it for? If we look beyond the nice appearance and animated eyes, we basically get a mobile camera that can be controlled remotely and which also offers several functions using artificial intelligence. And mobility is what can make a fundamental difference in certain situations.
For example, imagine that you are at work or on vacation and want to check what is happening at home. With a classic security camera, you are limited to the place where it is installed and its angle of view. So if you need to see into another room, you are out of luck, or you may need to have more cameras. OR Air However, you can send the 2 Plus elsewhere via the app and see what's happening from a completely different perspective. Combined with the 3K camera and 137° viewing angle, this is a very interesting option that makes sense especially in larger households.
Even more interesting is the possibility of automatic patrolling. The robot can travel pre-planned routes and check individual parts of the home, and when motion is detected, it can record or alert the user. In essence, it tries to offer something between a classic security camera and a simple autonomous robot. Of course, I would not see it as a full-fledged replacement for a professional security system. Its main advantage is the possibility of remote surveillance and interaction, not guaranteed protection of the home from uninvited visitors.
However, setting up automatic patrolling is also one of the things that I hope the creators of the robot will work on in the future. When I was setting up the robot, I kind of expected it to behave like a robot vacuum cleaner and first of all, it would want to map out the space that becomes its new home, so that I could then send it to the kitchen or living room, for example. The reality is that it can't do anything like that, so you have to show it the routes you want it to take on even regular patrols - specifically, drive along them by remotely controlling the robot via your phone. It's not complicated, but on the other hand, the intuitiveness of robot vacuum cleaners definitely wins in this regard.
Very interesting options then EBO Air 2 Plus offers families with children. Thanks to two-way communication, you can not only monitor what is happening at home through the robot, but also talk to other household members. So, for example, if you are at work and want to connect with your partner or children, you can use the robot directly, which is a quite pleasant solution for me, which I quite liked during testing. ProIt's just nice to just walk up to your playing daughter and greet her through a cute robot.
Equally interesting is the use for contact with seniors. The robot can serve as another means of communication, through which the situation can be checked remotely and possibly a call can be made. Of course, it is not a medical device and certainly not a replacement for personal care. Its benefit lies primarily in the fact that it allows easier contact and provides another way to keep track of what is happening in the household.
A separate chapter is pets, where I find the whole concept perhaps even more interesting than with regular home supervision. EBO Air 2 Plus has special modes in which it can move around the room, make sounds and try to attract the attention of a dog or cat. So if you have an animal at home that spends part of the day alone, you can not only check on it through the app, but also offer it some form of interaction. I tested the robot specifically on our cat and although she was a little afraid of it at first, she got used to it quite quickly.onec got used to it and was subsequently able to have quite a bit of fun with it thanks to the various game modes.
If I were to focus on the reliability of the connection and the range, I tested the robot in an apartment with a floor area of approximately 60 m2, with the signal level reaching the highest or medium values practically everywhere, so everything went without a problem. The quality of the image transmission was really good throughout the testing and the image delay in the application was absolutely miniFrom a technical point of view, there is nothing to criticize here, which is ultimately absolutely crucial for similar devices.
Artificial intelligence as another dimension
I think mobility and a camera alone would make for a pretty interesting product. However, Enabot decided to add artificial intelligence, which is supposed to make the robot more than just remote-controlled eyes on tracks. EBO Air The 2 Plus supports conversational AI, thanks to which it can answer questions, respond to commands, and conduct dialogue.
On the one hand, this is very interesting because it opens up possibilities of use that you simply won't find with a regular security camera. The robot doesn't have to be used only for monitoring the home, but can also become a kind of interactive companion, and when you add to that its animated eyes, movement and the ability to communicate by voice, it becomes clear why the manufacturer presents it as a robotic AI companion.
On the other hand, there are of course certain limits to this communication that need to be taken into account. I tried it out with a robot as ChatGPT, So i Gemini and although it is true that you can talk to these models quite well, you inevitably encounter certain technical limitations. The first one, which is not entirely related to AI models, is that in order to talk to the robot, you must first activate the AI mode, either via the accompanying mobile application or via a dedicated button on it. So don't expect that you can start talking to the robot "from the floor" and it will respond to you, because it can't do that.
At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the fact that you need to speak to the robot clearly, distinctly and quite loudly so that it understands you well. And quite frankly, it is not for very long "chats", because it sometimes takes a while before it understands that you want to tell it something and perhaps you have to jump in to talk to it. As a result, sometimes it is not easy to get a good result, but yes, basic conversation is nice. But it is really just a conversational model, not about telling the robot to go here and there and it does it based on your voice.
Personally, I would see AI more as a nice addition than as the main reason to buy. In an era when we have advanced chatbots available on virtually every smartphone, namely the ability to ask a robot questions is nothing groundbreaking. However, what is interesting is the combination of AI with a physical device that can move, react to its surroundings and create the impression of a certain personality. And it is in this connection that I see the greatest potential of the whole concept.
Summary
Enabot EBO Air 2 Plus is undoubtedly a product that tries to offer something different from most regular consumer electronics. On the one hand, it is a mobile security camera, on the other hand, a communication device, and on the third, an interactive robot that can entertain children or pets. And the combination of these options is, in my opinion, its greatest advantage.
I especially like the idea of mobile home surveillance. The ability to navigate through individual rooms via the app, see what's going on where, or connect with someone at home is an interesting alternative to classic security cameras. I also appreciate the automatic patrolling, return to the charging station, or the 3K camera with a wide viewing angle. And although the animated eyes may seem unnecessary at first glance, they are what give the robot a certain character that distinguishes it from ordinary electronics.
At the same time, it must be admitted that this is not a product for everyone. The price of 9,990 CZK is certainly not negligible, and if you are only looking for a simple camera for home surveillance, there are a number of significantly cheaper solutions. EBO Air 2 Plus makes sense especially if you can take advantage of its mobility, remote communication and other interactive features. The absence of Czech among the supported AI languages may also be a certain limitation chatboot.
So for me, Enabot is EBO Air 2 Plus is an interesting example of where home electronics can go in the coming years. While today we are used to smart cameras, speakers or robot vacuum cleaners, similar devices indicate a future in which individual technologies will begin to merge more and more. And although I don't think everyone would necessarily need such a robot, I can very well imagine households in which it would find its place.
