Podcasts are becoming more and more popular, and content of this type is increasing very quickly. Company Apple has developed its own native application where you can listenchat podcasts, and in App The store is full of relevant apps from third-party developers. Which apps are for listening to podcasts on iOS devices best?
Podcasts
Native Podcasts is of course offered within Apple ecosystem a lot of possibilities - you can use the respective application on your iPhone, iPod, iPad, Mac and on Apple TV, Podcasts from Appthey work great on Apple Watch. Like Apple Music Native Podcasts also have a social aspect, allowing users to discover new content, among other things. Podcasts in its latest update offers improved search, allows adding episodes to the queue or creating stations. When you click on the “Library” item in the bottom bar of the Podcasts application and then on “Edit” in the upper right corner, you will see a menu in which you can see an item called “New Station”. This feature allows you to create your own podcast stations, which you can then launch using the voice assistant Siri. Apple however, it only improves its native podcasts miniminimal, and the application may seem too "basic" to some users.
Spotify
Until now, you may have mainly used the music streaming service Spotify to listen to music. But you will also find a number of interesting podcasts with wide playback, sorting and other management options. One of the biggest benefits of podcasts on Spotify is that you no longer have to jump between music and podcast apps. You will find the vast majority of available podcasts here, Spotify also offers the option of recommending interesting content, the option of queuing individual episodes or adding them to playlists you have created, or downloading them for offline listening.
Breaker
Breaker is a relatively innovative podcast application that, unlike the aforementioned Podcasts and Spotify, also has a highly developed social element. In the app, you can follow your friends and share the podcasts you listen to, subscribe to, and like with each other. Breaker also allows you to comment on the shows you're listening to, and will also give you an overview of the most popular content. In a certain sense, the Breaker platform could be described as a social network that connects not only podcast listeners, but also the creators of individual shows. The nice icing on the cake is the great looking user interface. So if you've been missing the social element of podcasts until now, you're sure to love Breaker.
Overcast
Overcast is one of my favorites. It has been in the world since 2013, it is characterized by a nice design, a clear and easy-to-use user interface and useful functions. You can easily customize the appearance of the application, it goes without saying that you can create your own playlists (or podcast episodes), create and manage podcast subscriptions, and customize playback. Overcast also offers what I call "playback streamlining" - the ability to automatically skip silent parts of an episode during playback. But you can also adjust the playback speed, sound and other elements. Recently, I have noticed problems with the Ovecast application loading some older podcast episodes, but it can be assumed that the creators of the application will solve this error in the next update.
Castro
At first glance, Castro looks like a more or less standard podcast playback and management app. In addition to classic functions, such as the ability to subscribe to programs and queue episodes, it also offers one unique and very useful function. This feature is an advanced ability to manage playback of individual episodes. The moment a new episode of your favorite podcast is released, you can choose to queue it up for playback or archive it. This way, you won't be unnecessarily overwhelmed with content, and at the same time, you'll also avoid missing one of your favorite podcast episodes in the flood of news. Similar to Overcast, Castro also offers the ability to skip silent spots and customize playback.
Pocket Casts
Pocket Casts is one of the seasoned matadors in the field of podcast applications, which App It has been around for a very long time. It boasts a great-looking user interface, useful features, and rich options for customizing its appearance, management, and playback. The application is very gentle on your iPhone's battery, offers you an overview of the most popular and most listened to episodes and entire shows, and you will also find thematic sections. Of course, there is the option to search, sort podcasts by genre, or filter shows. If you want to discover new, interesting content in the podcast field, you should definitely reach for Pocket Casts.
