Most of us have our own iPhone protects as best as possible. That's why we have various cases, covers, films, glasses and other gadgets on our mobile phones that try to prevent the phone from breaking if it accidentally falls. The glasses we were talking about are also manufactured by Zagg, specifically the invisibleSHIELD series products. Today, this company announced the acquisition of Mophie, which it bought for almost $100 million. Mophie currently mainly produces covers with a built-in battery, power banks and docking stations.
The agreement, which has already been signed by both parties, states that the money will be paid based on revenue from April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017. Zagg CEO Randy Hales said in a press release: “This strategic combination of two industry innovators with complementary smart device products will bring better and higher quality accessories to customers. We will also have greater shareholder value. We want to improve the brand presentation and further expand distribution.”
He further stated that the Mophie brand will release products unchanged and will still have the same strategy. Mophie CEO Daniel Huang, however, will report to Zagg, which is the market leader in external batteries or screen protection thanks to the acquisition. At the same time, Hales is happy that the combination of the two companies could bring new and even better products.
