Last year's iPhones 8 and iPhone The X are the first ever phones from Applu, which boasts wireless charging. Despite this, Apple does not yet have its own wireless pad in its portfolio and offers customers chargers from Belkin and Mophie as a tailor-made solution for its phones. While we covered the first mentioned in the review a few weeks ago, today we will look at the pad from Mophie, which we have thoroughly tested over the past week.

mophie Charging Base is not much different from its white sister from the workshop of Belkin. Its main difference lies in its smaller dimensions, and above all in its matte black color. Thanks to this, in my opinion, the mat is a bit more elegant and does not have a cheap impression - on the contrary, for example, it fits perfectly on a wooden table and will thus also serve as an interesting decoration. On the other hand, the matte finish brings with it a certain negative, when the mat is susceptible to any kind of dirt and becomes a magnet for dust particles. However, the list of negatives ends there, in everything else it is basically flawless.

The body of the charger is completely rubberized, which mainly brings with it a benefit in the form of protection against scratching the iPhone. That is, of course, provided that you do not have a case on your phone. The bottom part of the pad is also rubberized, so it does not slide on the table, and on the contrary, it sits as if riveted. Also worth mentioning is the green diode located in the front, which informs about the current charging.

The big advantage of the charger is that in addition to the pad itself, the package also includes an adapter and cable. Thanks to this, there is no need to buy anything extra, as is the case with the vast majority of other pads. That is why the price of the mophie Charging Base is slightly higher. However, with the included adapter, you can be sure that the pad will provide power when charging your phone. maxThe minimum possible power, which according to the manufacturer is set at 7,5 W, which is the ideal value for charging all three new iPhones.

Thanks to this, wireless charging through the mophie pad is faster than if you used a standard adapter, which Apple comes with iPhones. However, don't expect any miracles, the wireless charging speed of Apple phones is still not at a level that would surpass, for example, the adapter for the iPad or MacBookHowever, it is thanks to the mophie Charging Base that you can benefit from wireless charging. maximum, because it is tailor-made for iPhones.

That's why, out of curiosity, I conducted tests to measure the wireless charging speed of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus with the latest iOS 11.3. I charged both phones under exactly the same conditions – from 1% battery, with airplane mode and low power mode activated, and after closing all applications. You can see the full results below.

iPhone X:

  • after 0,5 hours to 22%
  • after 1 hours to 40%
  • after 1,5 hours to 56%
  • after 2 hours to 71%
  • after 2,5 hours to 85%
  • After 3 hours at 97%
  • After 3,5 hours on 100%

iPhone 8 Plus:

  • after 30 min. to 24%
  • after 1 hours to 41%
  • after 1,5 hours to 58%
  • after 2 hours to 73%
  • after 2,5 hours to 88%
  • after 3 hours to 99%
  • after 3,25 hours to 100%

The question is whether it's worth waiting for a wireless charger AirPower directly from Applu. mophie Charging Base is definitely a reliable and well-designed pad, the price of which is also several times lower than the price tag of a factory solution should climb Applu. With a charger from mophie you will definitely not take a step wrong, on the contrary you will get a reliable piece of technology that is recommended by itself Apple, which at the same time evokes a certain guarantee of reliability.
