American journalist Mitch Lipka pointed out a problem that occurs in connection with the company's very benevolent warranty program Apple. Currently, the warranty period is tied to a specific device, not its owner or the owner of the purchase receipt. In practice, this means that if within one year from the time the device was sold you will reach Apple Store and you request a replacement or repair, the salespeople will immediately comply without you having to show any proof of purchase. We would just like to remind you that in the Czech Republic, even in the most reputable department stores and boutique chains, it is not possible, with very few exceptions, to claim goods in a store other than the one where they were purchased, so you can forget about claiming without proof of purchase. This is of course very convenient for honest customers who can sell, donate, or buy their devices without any restrictions. However, if your device falls into the hands of a thief, this claim procedure is AppIt's a loss.
We will show how abuse of the system works in practice using the example of a student who was iPhone 4 was stolen at a train station in Boston. A few days later, she received an automatically sent email saying that the device registered to this email address had been repaired and she could pick it up at the store. Apple Store. However, when the student arrived at the store, even though she had a receipt for the phone purchase, the phone was not issued to her, as the receipt does not identify which specific phone was sold. The receipt only contains information about the sale. iPhone 4, but those Apple has already sold several tens of millions. The student reported everything to the police and the officers waited for the thief in front of the store, the phone was of course returned and the thief went to the police station.
According to Mitch Lipka, the theft of mobile phones is a recent phenomenon in theft. iPhone, iPod touch multimedia players and iPad tablets. Thieves immediately damage these devices after theft and go to the nearest Apple StoreIn most cases, they receive a new, originally packaged phone, which not only has a higher resale value than a stolen and therefore used device without accessories, but also legalizes the device. A new device that the thief in Apple Store The recipient will of course also receive a new UDID, IMAI and serial number. The device cannot be blocked by the operator and there is no risk that the phone's real owner will be identified based on the above parameters even if it is subsequently sold. The situation is of course not the company's fault Apple, but human society. According to the latest police results, 7 out of 10 stolen phones in the US are iPhone.
so now tell me how it can go wrong macbook so that they recognize my claim :D I have macbook air 2010, but I still get the 1-year warranty so quickly :D
I didn't understand it, I confess.
Why didn't they hand it over to the owner (from the article), why did they hand it over to the thief, no.
Remote lock? It all sounds like bullshit…
Because the thief had a receipt from the store about taking over the goods for the claims process.
So I dare to disagree with what you write here. Apple They will NEVER give you a new, originally packaged device with all accessories for your device. They will give you a piece for a piece. Progiver donewith new ones iphone, ipad... in a black plastic box and replace them. You will not receive a new piece in the original packaging.
iGor...
Disassemble a 5 crown lighter and pull out the spark... drive past toonemicrowave oven for 1 second and no one will ever know what and how and why it happened... all PN transitions will die...
YEAH, that's how I bought 2 new ones like the right one
SE K810i .. my darling it used to be…
So if I have a warranty, I wait 11 months and 29 days, then I go to the store and say "change it for me", and they change it for me? No bullshit, right?
Did you really not read the article? If the phone is damaged, it is clearly written in the article…… and each of us can probably damage the phone so that the service will recognize it, moreover in the USA, for example, AT and T has a service for $10, thanks, they change the claim piece by piece without even looking at what is wrong with the phoneonem is….. because it is growing in the USA, the mentality is different than here and people don't damage their phones on purpose to get a new one… except for a few thieves
"it is not possible ... to complain about the goods in a store other than the one in which it was purchased, then you can forget about the complaint without proof of purchase."
I dare to disagree with this. If the merchant has more than one store, you can complain anywhere. And of course you can do it without a document. It is only necessary to prove in a credible way that the goods were purchased here and are not yet under warranty. This can be achieved, for example, by a witness statement or an affidavit. In this case, the complaint is of course more complicated, because the seller tends not to acknowledge it, but it is not impossible.
I myself successfully complained like this iPhone 3G with Vodafone, after I threw away the warranty card on the way to the claim :(
Unfortunately, the CR Code speaks differently, the fact that someone acknowledged your complaint is only his good will.
That's it Lucia Zavřelová:
And may I please know where exactly it is stated in the Civil Code?
I'm not sure that's really the case... see http://business.center.cz/business/pravo/ochrana_spotrebitele/otazky-odpovedi.aspx
Do I have to have a sales receipt ("receipt") when making a claim?
De jure no, de facto it may be necessary. No law imposes this obligation on you, but you must prove to the seller that you bought the item from him, or when. You can also prove this with the help of witnesses, but the seller may not recognize it and then you have no choice but to go to court. You can also prove the fact and date of sale, for example, with a warranty certificate, if you have one. Even in this case, however, the problem of proving the purchase price in the event of withdrawal from the contract still remains. ProHowever, for consumer goods (not services), the supplier is obliged to keep the price history for 3 years according to §11/2 of the Price Act and, in addition, has the option of finding out the price from accounting documents, the retention of which is prescribed by the Accounting Act. However, goodwill to prove the price cannot be assumed.
A month ago, my new one was stolen. iPhone4S. I just called the official helpline. Applu. They said that when making a complaint they verify the data (billing address, etc.) + check it against the police register, so it probably won't be that simple... I'm still checking with iStyle to be sure. But if it were that simple, I'm in pr. I blocked the phone via IMEI, Find my iPhone I didn't have...
