History repeats itself. This is exactly how I think the situation surrounding the recently introduced iPhone 18 Pro a 18 Pro Max. Although they have only been on store shelves for two weeks now, some of their owners are already complaining on social media and discussion forums about a problem that appeared last year. Specifically, we are talking about a change in color around the phone's photo module, which plagued the Orange last year. variaThis year, however, two colors seem to be suffering from this disease – specifically black and burgundy, or dark red if you prefer.

Phone owners have started to point out the problem on social media, where photos have appeared iPhone 18 Pro a 18 Pro Max with lighter to pinkish rings around the rear camera lenses. While at first glance it might seem like it's simply grease or other dirt caught during normal use, affected owners say they haven't been able to remove the tint change even by thoroughly cleaning the phone. There are even cases where the problem was noticeable almost immediately after taking the phone out of the box. Some customers have already returned their iPhones or requested a replacement.

The cause of the problem is not entirely clear at this time. However, suspicion naturally falls on the anodized aluminum from which the Apple produces the body iPhone 18 Pro. Anodizing creates a protective oxide layer on the surface of aluminum, which can then be filled with a colored pigment. However, if the entire process is not carried out or sealed perfectly, the resulting surface may be more susceptible to the effects of water, grease, sweat or other substances, and its appearance may subsequently change. However, whether this is the case has not yet been confirmed. However, it is quite surprising that this ailment has appeared for the second year in a row and that we should therefore Apple didn't pay enough attention.

On the other hand, it is important to add that there is definitely no reason to panic and possibly give up on buying the phone. The number of users who have encountered the problem is relatively small, at least according to posts on social networks (given that Apple (it has already sold at least hundreds of thousands of new models). Likewise, we do not yet know whether all cases have the same cause. Apple has not commented publicly on the whole matter and has not announced any service program or other general procedure. We in the editorial office have two burgundy models at our disposal and the problem has not appeared in either of them, even though we have been using them since the first day of sales.

But if you own black or burgundy iPhone 18 Pro whether 18 Pro Max, it is definitely worth checking the area around the cameras from time to time. If you start to see lighter or pinkish spots on it that cannot be removed with regular cleaning, it may be the same problem that other owners are now reporting, and therefore a reason for a complaint. Only the following weeks will show whether this is really a wider problem with this generation, or just a limited number of defective units.
