Beats has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to introduce a special edition of its popular Beats Pill wireless speaker. The new collaboration is said to “unleash the energy of your music, inspired by the power of Pikachu’s brightest spark and the depths of Mimikyu’s mystery.”
Pikachu, Mimikyu and for the first time ever, charms
The front and back of the speaker grille are adorned with both of the beloved Pokémon. The design combines the unmistakable yellow of the Pokémon Pikachu with a black and white rendition of the mysterious Mimikyu. For the first time ever, Beats is also adding themed charms to its speaker. The package also includes a Poké Ball, the Beats “b” logo, and lightning bolts, which are the characteristic symbols of Pikachu. The playful and interactive design of the box itself completes the unboxing experience.
“ Pokémon trainers are some of the most passionate people in the world. We saw an opportunity to channel that energy into something fun, unexpected, and created specifically for fans ,” said Chris Thorne, Chief Marketing Officer, Beats. The collaboration brings together two brands with deep cultural roots and gives people a new way to express their love for Pokémon through sound.
Under the unique appearance lies the technically identical Beats Pill, which has undergone a rejuvenation this year. Users can look forward to excellent integration into the Apple ecosystem, modern charging via USB-C and battery life of up to 24 hours on a single charge. The speaker is a real design pun, but it won't appeal to everyone. Although I'm a fan of Pokémon, I probably wouldn't want a speaker like this. But a hundred people, a hundred tastes. How do you like it?
