New Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 have only been on the market for less than three weeks, but some of their owners are already starting to point out a rather unpleasant problem. Complaints about skin irritation in the places where the back of the watch touches the wrist are appearing on discussion forums and social networks. Users describe in particular redness of the skin and in some cases even an unpleasant burning sensation. And although similar problems are nothing new for smartwatches, it is interesting that they are now appearing precisely with models that Apple equipped with redesigned health sensors.

Some owners have reported irritation right under the circular sensor area on the bottom of the watch. One user reported feeling a slight burning sensation after just a few days of use. Apple Watch Series 12. He only noticed the redness when he took off the watch to charge it. Interestingly, he says he never had similar problems with older generations. Apple Watch and he didn't wear the watch too tight or too loose. That's why he started considering returning it.

Are new health sensors to blame?

The cause of the problems is not yet clear, but some users are speculating that they could be related to redesigned health sensors. Apple because this year's Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 has significantly modified the heart rate measurement system, which can now take measurements every five seconds. At the same time, the area of the ECG electrodes has been increased, the photodiodes have been rearranged into a circle, and larger green LEDs have been used. The main goal of these modifications is to monitor health data more accurately and frequently, which is one of the main innovations of this generation.

However, it is not yet confirmed whether these changes are actually responsible for the skin irritation. Furthermore, optical heart rate measurement itself is not a known cause of burns and there is no evidence yet that the new sensors damage the skin. Similar complaints have also appeared with previous generations. Apple Watch, practically since the launch of the very first model. We in the editorial office then Apple Watch 12 i Ultra 4 since the first days of its launch and they behave on our hands just like the previous generations – without any eczema or anything like that. For this reason, I personally wouldn't be completely scared by similar reports. However, if you have more sensitive skin, it is miniIt's good to know that something like this is happening.
