Apple fulfilled what it promised earlier this year and officially launched its navigation app Apple Maps deploy ads. The rollout of this new feature is currently underway in the United States and Canada, with full display for all users there expected to occur in the coming weeks.
Where do you see advertisements?
Sponsored messages await users in two main places within the app itself. The first is the search home screen, where ads appear before the actual search within the suggested places section. The second is forstorem are the search results themselves, where sponsored links are naturally placed if they are relevant to the user's query. Visually, these advertising banners look exactly the same as regular company and business profiles on the map. The only distinguishing feature that gives them away is a small blue label with the words "Ad" (Advertisement).
Privacy comes first, but it wasn't without criticism
Apple In this case too, it loudly warns about its strict approach to protecting user privacy. The company promises in an official statement that the user's location or any interactions with displayed ads will not be linked to their Apple account. All personal data should remain exclusively on the device itself, Apple does not collect them, store them on its servers, or share them with any third parties.
Despite these assurances, this strategic move has understandably not been without messages from disappointed fans. A sentiment resonates strongly across the community, aptly summed up by one of the top-rated comments under the original article: “I remember the days when they told us we were Apple We pay extra for products precisely so that they don't have any built-in advertising."
