Competition for Apple Intelligence is getting stronger again. Google announced that it will add it to its application Gemini for macOS brings the feature Gemini Spark, which of chatThe bot makes a much more capable AI assistant. Now, it will not only answer questions, but will also be able to work with files stored directly on your Mac and automate a number of common tasks.

Gemini Spark appears in the application as a new tab in the sidebar. After granting the necessary permissions, it gains access to selected folders and can perform various actions on their contents. Google lists, for example, automatic sorting of PDF files in the Downloads folder, creating a table in Google Sheets based on invoices saved on the computer, or other repetitive tasks that the user would otherwise do manually. The user has full control over access to the folders and can remove it at any time.

Remote control of your Mac coming soon

Google also revealed a very interesting new feature that is currently heading into the future. Gemini Spark will be able to be controlled remotely from your phone. Imagine a situation where you are away from home and need to find a specific document on your Mac, pull out important information from it, and send it via email. Instead of connecting remotely, you simply enter a task Gemini Spark and AI will do it on your Mac itself.

But it's not just about working with files. Google is also expanding connections with other services. Gemini Spark now works with Google Keep, Google Tasks, Dropbox, Canva, OpenTable, and Zillow, and also supports Model Context. Protocol (MCP), which will allow you to connect other third-party applications. The assistant can also monitor selected topics in real time and automatically notify you, for example, about stock price developments or sports results.

But for now, the news has one catch. Gemini Spark is in beta version available only to Google AI subscribers Ultra over 18 and only in the United States. However, Google indicates that it will gradually expand the feature to other markets. And if it works, Apple will have another reason to add to Apple Intelligence new skills as soon as possible.
