Apple has decided to take an unexpected and radical step within the framework of the schedule of its own processor family. According to the latest information from the agency Bloomberg The apple giant is changing the timeline for releasing new processors with the aim of bringing chips to market as quickly as possible that are designed from the ground up for extreme workloads associated with artificial intelligence.
Konec established traditions: M6 Pro a Max they won't
Apple plans to launch a basic chip M6 pro entry-level Mac models by the end of this year. At the same time, however, it completely canceled plans to develop more powerful variant M6 Pro and M6 MaxSince the introduction of the very first generation of custom processors, there has been an unwritten rule that each series offers miniat least three basic varianty (basic, Pro a Max). Generation M6 thus, she will be the first in history to break this rule.
Instead Apple decided to accelerate development and move its more advanced technologies straight into the upcoming M7 series, the first representatives of which will arrive in the first half of 2027. The reason for this rush is the fact that the M7 architecture integrates completely new technologies for local AI processing directly on the device and software demanding graphics performance.
According to the leaked roadmap, the new schedule looks like this:
M5 Ultra - konec year 2026
M6 – toonec year 2026
M7 – first half of 2027
M7 Pro and M7 Max - konec year 2027
M7 Ultra - 2028
What will the basic M6 and the brutal M5 Ultra?
The M6 core processor could appear in a new core model later this year MacBooku Pro, macu mini, iMac and also in future iPad models Pro and iPad AirIt is expected to deliver memory throughput of around 200 GB/s (compared to 153 GB/s with the M5 chip) for significantly faster video editing and AI processing. Bloomberg It also adds that the M6 will offer an improved memory architecture, an upgraded Neural Engine, higher performance across all processor cores, and a completely redesigned GPU with up to 12 cores. It is also speculated that it will be the first chip ever built on the advanced 2nm manufacturing process.

Pro demanding professionals have Apple one more surprise up his sleeve this year. Namely Mac Studio with processor M5 UltraThis beast will offer around 36 CPU cores, 80 GPU cores, and can be configured with up to 768GB of memory. Future Mac versions Studio then skips a generation M6 and in 2027 they will get M7 chips straight away Max and M7 Ultra.
However, this ambitious shift in hardware strategy has its victims. According to earlier speculation Apple worked on a high-end model "MacBook Ultra" with a touchscreen OLED display, which was supposed to arrive at the end of 2026. Due to the postponement of the premiere of the M7 chips Pro a Max na konec 2027, however, the arrival of such a machine in the near future is highly unlikely. Moreover, the news about the new direction of processors comes just after Apple has raised prices globally and very drastically across all of its Macs and iPads.
Why are they messing with this anyway, it's not that important
