Anthropic is once again pushing the capabilities of its artificial intelligence Claude to a whole new level, which users might actually like. Applu. A few hours ago, the company introduced new features Claude Code and Claude Cowork, which can control your Mac even when you're not there and perform tasks without having to sit at the screen.
The principle is simple and quite impressive. When Claude doesn't have a direct connection to a specific application, such as Slack or Google Calendar, he doesn't try to improvise in a complicated way, but simply "just" controls the computer like a human. In other words, he watches the screen, clicks, navigates menus, and opens files or launches tools as needed. As Anthropic explains on its blog, now you just need to allow Claude to use your Mac to complete tasks, and he'll take care of the rest himself, from the browser to the developer tools to the files themselves, without any complicated settings.
The whole thing ties in with the recently introduced Dispatch, which lets you submit tasks from your iPhone and return to your finished work on your desktop. In the demo, Anthropic shows how Claude exports a presentation to PDF and attaches it directly to a meeting invitation, without the user having to be at their Mac.
Anthropic itself warns that it is still early days and Claude could be wrong, but it is an impressive demonstration of what artificial intelligence is capable of now. In principle, it is “just” Claude’s version of OpenClaw as an AI agent, which caused a lot of buzz in the spring. OpenClaw also runs locally and can work with applications such as WhatsApp or Telegram, manage files or automate the browser, but setup is often complicated. Claude, on the other hand, offers a more closed, secure approach, although currently only for Mac and with an emphasis on security.
The new product is now available in research preview for Claude subscribers Pro a Max. However, it is expected to be extended to other subscription versions in the future, which is definitely positive from a user perspective. Without a doubt, this is an interesting step towards artificial intelligence being able to work without your presence while remaining under control, and for anyone who wants to have their Mac and AI effectively connected, it is definitely a feature worth watching.
