Apple continues to integrate artificial intelligence directly into its developer tools. After announcing support ChatGPT during WWDC 2025 now server 9to5Mac revealed that in the code Xcode 26 beta 7, there are references to native Anthropic Claude support. This means that developers could soon be using Claude with the same level of integration as it has ChatGPT.

Claude Sonnet and Opus directly in Xcode

In the test version Xcode there were mentions of specific models Claude Sonnet 4.0 and Claude Opus 4 released on May 14. Support is built into the new section "Intelligence", where users can connect their accounts. While ChatGPT is the only model with fully functional integration, the presence of code for Claude suggests that the launch of this feature is a matter of time.

Until now, Claude was able to Xcode connect only using the API. Apple However, it is clearly planning to offer developers the same smooth experience it presented for ChatGPT during WWDC.

Od Swift Assist towards more open integration

Originally it was supposed to be Swift Assist is a competitor to GitHub Copilot, an AI assistant built directly into XcodeThe feature was announced on WWDC 2024, but it never reached users. Now it is returning in the form of an expanded system that includes not only Apple models, but also native ChatGPT and the ability to connect other providers – including local models running directly on the Mac.

According to available information Apple has been testing Claude internally for a long time and was initially hesitant to release the feature. However, current findings show that the integration is almost ready and developers who prefer Claude will gain the same level of comfort as users ChatGPT.

Next step: Claude as an alternative to Siri?

An interesting detail is also the reference in the configuration files, which suggests the possibility of using Claude in the wider ecosystem. Apple – for example as an alternative to Siri or in text writing tools. If this were to happen, Apple could introduce Claude not only in Xcode, but also as a system assistant.

We expect final confirmation with the release iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe in the fall, when Apple traditionally introduces new developer tools along with hardware.
