When Apple In mid-October, Apple introduced the new generation of its most powerful tablets to the world through a press release, leaving no one in doubt that it wanted to be the one to continue to rule the throne as the king of the tablet market. News and improvements Although the new iPads Pro (2025) brings little, but even that little is a wonderful demonstration of how incredible these devices can be. After all, due to the very powerful M5 chip, which in higher configurations is associated with 16GB of RAM, this very thin tablet is better in performance than most basic Macs, and by extension, other computers. And since I had the opportunity to spend the last two weeks with the new product, it is now high time to evaluate it.

It's the same, but does it actually bother anyone?

As I already wrote in the introduction, Apple with iPad Pro The M5 decided to improve quite a bit. The upgrades were actually limited to the deployment of the new M5 chip, its own 5G C1X modem supplemented by the N1 chip providing WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread and faster internal memory, but that's enough in the end. This tablet underwent a relatively fundamental transformation only in last year's generation, which arrived with a fundamentally narrowed body and, what's more, with an OLED display. And I must say that this combination must appeal to every technology fan.

The 11" model I tested has a thickness of 5,3 mm, which will make you extremely happy every time you hold the tablet in your hands. The thinness of this device is simply incredible and makes you feel miniAt least in the first few days you will have to constantly tilt the tablet in different ways to enjoy its thin silhouette. I dare to say that the weight of 446 grams is really low for such a relatively large device, and the shape of the tablet will really not only entertain you, but also fascinate you. MiniIt really impressed me throughout the entire test. When you realize that hardware in a similar price category has only been around relatively recently, such technological progress is almost unbelievable.

The display also deserves praise, as it is simply phenomenal. It is a Tandem OLED display of the type Ultra Retina XDR with a resolution of 2420 x 1668 pixels at a density of 264 pixels per inch. MaxThe maximum brightness is up to 1600 nits for HDR content, and 1000 nits as standard. Optionally, you can configure the display with a nanotexture that reduces glare and thus acts as an improved anti-glare layer. Although I only had the classic glossy display available, I think it also managed to deal with glare quite well and in combination with maxAt maximum brightness, it was readable even under harsh artificial light. However, I admit that the brightness could certainly have been improved between generations, if it was AppI manage to improve it every now and then. Apple Watch or iPhones.

Face ID sees far and wide

In connection with the display, it is appropriate to write a few lines about Face ID, which is of course located on the display side of the device – more precisely in a frame on one of its longer sides. In connection with it, I was quite surprised by how wide the viewing angle of this authentication technology is. Compared to the iPhone, it can record you from a larger angle and, I would say, from a greater distance. Accordingly, minialmost me Face ID on the iPad it "took" compared to Face ID better on the iPhone, because I was able to unlock the iPad or confirm something on it even when it was lying on the table and I was only slightly leaning towards it, which is usually the case with the iPhone nestachilo.

The brightness, which is stuck at the same (but definitely sufficient) level, is the only minor complaint I can have about the display. Proeverything else, including color rendering, contrast, and viewing angles, is simply fantastic and I'm not afraid to say that it's sometimes noticeably better than on iPhonech. The vividness of the colors and the overall depth of the image, which is iPad Pro is able to offer is simply phenomenal, and what is absolutely essential for me, you will appreciate these capabilities in practically everything. Prothat's even just scribbling in Notes, watching Apple TV or viewing your photos and videos in the photo gallery is very pleasant and captivating.

The sound component has also remained unchanged between generations, but for me personally it is also at a very good level. There is a pleasant-sounding four-speaker system available, which, considering what it has, is quite good. Apple can score points both when watching movies and playing music. Of course, for audioFor iPad users and similar users, listening to speakers will not be a complete paradise, but compared to basic iPads, the difference is really noticeable and not even iPad Air doesn't hold up very well.

The only thing I don't like about the new generation of iPad Pro The M5 comes as a bit of a shame, it's just that Apple resigned to improving the camera. Sure, I know very well that the iPad is not a device that you would need to take pictures on every day, but on the other hand I think that since there is a rear camera, it would be nice for it to be as usable as possible - especially for a device in this price category. But here we only got a 12MPx wide-angle camera with an f/1,8 aperture, which can capture photos quite decently, but when you compare its photo capabilities with iPhones that are several years old, it simply does not catch up with them. For example, the amount of noise that appears in the images is somehow too much for my taste and Pro The equipment just doesn't fit. Maybe in a year.

I must admit, quite frankly, that I am not a person who is familiar with the capabilities of the iPad. Pro able to exploit maximum, partly because my work is quite simple in terms of software usage and partly because it is not demanding on performance. Nevertheless, I was extremely curious about how good this device actually is as a potential replacement for a Mac. Apple In recent years, he has liked to present iPads as an alternative to Macs, which is an idea that I like, but which I also find difficult to understand.oneI couldn't imagine much because of the limitations of iPadOS. Possibility to test iPad Pro The M5 was also a great opportunity for me to try to replace my old one after some time. MacBook using the iPad as the main workstation and seeing if it would work.

And I have to say, with a little practice, it could probably be done! iPadOS has come a long way in recent years and is now much closer to macOS than it was years ago when it was first released. Apple decided to create a separate OS offshoot for iPads. For example, working with windows is already at a really good level, almost identical to Macs, perhaps thanks to the use of the same icons for maximagization, minimalization or closing a window, which we know from macOS. Similarly, in iPadOS, individual applications do not lack options for individual applications in the status bar (i.e. File, Edit, Add, View, etc.), thanks to which a person sometimes really feels like he is working on a Mac.

I used iPad Pro M5 in combination with a 32" 4K display, which I had connected to the tablet via USB-C and which I used as its extended desktop, onto which I dragged individual application windows and then worked in them. I usually had several windows open on a large screen Safari, when I had several other tabs open in each one, and I also had Mail running, Messenger a WhatsApp, Pages and then suddenly Excel, Files or preview. And the result? Everything ran absolutely brilliantly, without any lag and sometimes noticeably faster than on my work computer. MacBooku Air M3.

However, in order to be satisfied with the iPad as a workstation, you need to accept its rules of the game, or rather the rules of the iPadOS system. Although they are quite similar to those dictated by macOS, they differ in many ways and you may not like these differences as much as I do. Personally, I am a notorious saver of files to the desktop, from which I can then quickly access them and work with them quickly - for example, upload them to an article, send them as an attachment in an email, and so on. However, iPadOS does not yet support saving files to the desktop, so you have to take into account that things are saved either in Files or Photos, and you often have to travel significantly longer distances to get to them. In general, you can always get to them just fine, but it will change your work pace and that can be a problem.

It's all about habit and a learned workflow, but I'm simply more productive on a Mac thanks to macOS. On the other hand, I completely understand users who take full advantage of the iPad's power, thanks to the ability to, for example, Apple Pencil edit photos or videos, or do anything else more easily than they are able to do on a Mac. But I dare say that whether you belong to one group or the other, it will never be the performance that will keep you on the iPad Pro M5 in any way, because it is simply unreal and I can't imagine much of a task that would be done on this device nestacil, which is actually absolutely fantastic. If you're interested in the numbers, check out the benchmarks from Geekbench 6 and Geekbench AI, where I iPad Pro M5 compared to my work MacBookem Air The M3, which by the way also seems really fast and good to me. But it doesn't catch on to the new thing.

Considering that iPad Pro The M5 didn't hold its breath at all while I was working on it, even when I had many applications running and many windows open. Safari and then he played with Photos and stuff like that, talking about how all AAA games from App Store It runs on it without any problems, it's probably pointless. ProI'll just say that if you enjoy gaming, then know that after connecting a game controller, you will iPad Pro turns it into a full-fledged game console that can easily run game ports like Assassin's Creed or Hitman on maxmaximum possible details (or rather the details that the given port allows you) without any lag. In short, a great experience.

The battery will last you a whole working day.

As for durability, there's nothing to worry about here for me. Apple on its website promises up to 10 hours of web browsing on WiFi or 9 hours of web browsing on mobile data. These figures are completely in line with reality. Although I did not surf the internet for 10 hours, I did work on the device and it managed about 7 hours of really intensive work connected to a monitor, during which many application windows and the web were running simultaneously, I used AirDrop, communicated via iMessage and so on. So I think that with a more relaxed work style or just surfing, the values stated AppleYou can get them without any problems, and what's more - I wouldn't be surprised if you could surpass them.

A pleasant upgrade, but one that is only talked about in connection with the new product miniFinally, there is support for fast charging. You can now charge the tablet from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes, so you can get ready for your next job really quickly. In this regard, the device is really reliable, because it offers both good battery life and a pleasant charging time.

Summary

I don't like strong words and exaggerated praise in reviews. But here I am not afraid to say that iPad Pro The M5 is the best tablet in the world you can buy right now. It offers a truly beautiful thin body, a display that is a joy to look at, a very solid audio equipment, sufficient battery life and, most importantly, it has performance to spare, so you can be sure that it will not only last you for a few years to come, but will also run even the most demanding applications without any problems.

However, not all that glitters is gold, and that (unfortunately) applies here as well. iPad Pro The M5 is an amazing device, but you either have to want it or know exactly how you want to use it. If you know that you work well on an iPad in a certain application, such as editing photos or cutting videos using Apple Pencil Pro, then I 100% I'm sure you'll be absolutely thrilled. And you'll be just as thrilled if you just want to look at a premium display or play games on the best tablet you can get. Apple now offers.

On the other hand, if you, like me, are tempted to swap your Mac for an iPad, know that even the best tablet in the world may not be the right fit for you at the end of the day and you may work on it more slowly than you are used to. iPadOS is simply not macOS and although these systems are very similar in many ways, they differ quite a bit in some elements, which may be a major stumbling block for you, just as it was for me. But when the philosophy Applu, and then the iPad itself Pro If you accept everything and get used to iPadOS, then I believe there is not much to worry about. New iPad Pro The M5 is not a revolution, but it is a tablet that raises the bar so high that others will have a hard time jumping over it.
