The wide-angle camera looks the same on paper as the previous generation, which in other words means that in addition to the 48MP resolution, it also has an f/1,6 aperture and support for 2x hybrid zoom. As for the ultrawide-angle lens, which on paper is actually only in the resolution, which jumped from 12 to 48MPx. However, the aperture remained at the same level of f/2,2, as it was last year, which ultimately means that you are still quite limited by the ambient light with this camera. In other words, higher resolution is great, but if you take photos in the dark or in generally poor lighting conditions, expect that in addition to the greater amount of detail that will be caused by the higher resolution of the camera, the photos will also contain a relatively large amount of noise. However, noise is the eternal enemy not only of Applu, but also other manufacturers, and that is why it is necessary to approach this negative in a way with understanding.
If only I had photos from iPhone 17, I would rate them as very good. Especially in nice weather, you can conjure up really good pictures with the camera, full of details and colors, without any major blending of the individual "layers" of the picture, which is definitely nice. But what I have to highlight the most is that, in my opinion, they are quite close to reality. In previous years, I had a problem, especially with the basic models, that I thought they took pictures too well in the sense of embellishing reality. In other words, the photo looked better than the subject looked. On the one hand, it could have been nice, because the photo itself came out fantastic. On the other hand, people take pictures to preserve the moment ideally as it was at the time, which was not the case here. iPhone 17 but I have a feeling that AppI managed tooneIt's possible to slightly tweak the level of artificial photo enhancement using AI, and it's definitely to the benefit of the cause.

Perhaps even more interesting than the rear camera this year is the front one. Here Apple he didn't skimp and used the same camera that you can find on the iPhone 17 Pro i Air – i.e. 18MPx Center Stage camera with support for centering the shot or excellent stabilization. By the way, the previous generation of the basic iPhone offered only 12MPx photos from the front camera, so the shift is noticeable here. And not only in resolution. Photos taken with the front camera look really fantastic compared to older models. While they used to be quite flat, inexpressive and simply a kind of "emergency", now I almost want to say that they can withstand the comparison with the rear camera in terms of quality. They are much more realistic, overall more plastic and in short, such that at first glance you almost don't even know that they are taken with the front camera. In addition, AI can recognize whether there are more of you in the viewfinder and thus, for example, expand the field of view and so on. The front camera is simply something worth trying this year!
And not just for photography. If you like filming, you'll be pleased to know that Apple has added support for dual video recording from the front and rear cameras simultaneously to the native Camera for the first time in history. Yes, this is not a revolutionary feature, as third-party applications have been offering the same thing for years. Evaluating the performance of the iPhone 17 is a bit of an art. Not because this phone is not powerful, but rather because it is very powerful, which is practically not appreciated from a user's point of view. ProWell, to be honest, in terms of system speed or application launch speed, iPhones have not really improved in recent years, as everything runs very quickly and reliably on its own. It probably won't surprise you that when I used the iPhone 17 alongside it, iPhone 17 Pro, which on paper is more graphically powerful and has 4 GB more RAM (iPhone 17 still has "only" 8 GB of RAM), I hardly noticed any differences in speed.
Teddy, iPhone 17, for example, launched AAA games like Assassin's Creed or Hitman: Absolution slightly slower, but we are really talking about a slight difference in the order of a few seconds. So you will definitely not complain about insufficient performance that would limit you in any way. Besides, let's just say so. After all, the A19 chip offers the same as the A19 Pro 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, the main difference being that it has "only" a 5-core GPU, while the A19 Pro from iPhone 17 Pro It has a 6-core GPU. Battery life has reached a new level, but charging could be better
Apple He also worked on the battery life of the new product, which has improved dramatically. While the iPhone 16 claimed a video playback life of up to 22 hours, the iPhone 17 states 30 hours. And it should be added that the endurance has not only improved on paper, but also in reality. With the phoneoneI've been through the last week and although I used my phone really actively (i.e. about 3-4 hours of calls a day, lots of notifications, communication via email and communicators, Spotify, CarPlay, Safari and so on), I always had 30% battery left in the evening. I often wondered if it was even possible to drain this phone in one day. Compared to the iPhone Air, which I tested a week earlier, is a very pleasant change. And compared to last year's generation of basic iPhones, it's a leap that may prompt many users to upgrade.
I was also quite surprised by the way the phone charges. Although the battery has hardly grown in size between generations, you can charge the phone faster, specifically from 0 to 50% in about 20 minutes, while last year it took 30 minutes. You would think that it must be charging at a higher poweronem, but that's not the case. In other words, when I was charging the phone and measuring the power it was charging, I got maxat least about 19W, which is a relatively low value. After all, with iPhone 17 Pro I measured more than 33W. In the end, it doesn't matter what power the phone uses if it charges quickly when using a suitable adapter, which is definitely the case here.
