Rebels

Rebels – that is the title of the third feature film by director Filip Renč, who this time did not choose a psychological drama, but based on a script he wrote with Zdeněk Zelenka, he shot a genre much more welcomed by the audience, namely a musical with the clarifying subtitle “A song retro film from the 60s”. In a charming artistic style of the atmosphere of the late 60s, the film tells mainly about one great love, which, however, history was not exactly kind to. High school graduate Tereza and a boy who ran away from the war – these are the main characters of the story, in which music and dance play a dominant role, as the film features a total of eleven large choreographic numbers, which are visual adaptations of the most famous hits from the 60s. The authors' goal was to make a film that, against the backdrop of difficult times, tells a story in an entertaining way about everything positive that life has to offer, especially about love. The film Rebels is about a time that will perhaps be a discovery for young viewers, and probably a strong memory for older ones.

On the way to the castle, Oldřich and his assistants (Jan Dolanský, David Matásek) traces the robbery and murder of an unknown merchant. At the Vartemberk estate, Oldřich meets Ludmila (Klára Issová), the daughter of Markvart of Vartemberk, whom he has known since her childhood. Ludmila confides in him that she does not want to marry Beneš of Dubé (David Prachař), even though their wedding is a condition for the fragile peace between the two families. During a festive feast held in Oldřich's honor, the burgrave (Miloš Vávra) is murdered. Suspicion falls on the lute player (Saša Rašilov), whose fiancée the burgrave tried to abuse. The next morning, Markvart (Martin Štěpánek), the head of the Vartemberk family, is found dead under the windows of the castle. Suicide is ruled out! Oldřich begins the investigation. Despite the death of the castle lord, a knightly tournament is held, in which Beneš of Dubé wins. Everyone sees that instead of his future Ludmila, he is devoting himself to Markvart's new widow, Klára of Vartemberk (Markéta Hrubešová). Meanwhile, Oldřich tries to reconstruct Markvart's murder and cleverly proves that the body of the lord of Vartemberk could only have been thrown from the window of his young wife Klára's chamber. Who is behind the strange murders and what is the connection between them?

Loners

Seven young people experience events over the course of a few days that will radically affect their future lives. Petr, a radio presenter at a small Prague radio station, breaks up with his long-time girlfriend Hanka. He wants to win her over for himself.euroThe story revolves around the eccentric doctor Ondřej, who has been pursuing the girl with his intrusive attention for years. However, Ondřej's wife Lenka refuses to accept that the father of her children could betray their neat, bourgeois life. The fates of both couples are also affected by the fragile Macedonian bartender Vesna, who is looking for her lost father in Bohemia, the cynical manipulator Robert, and the devoted marijuana lover Jakub. The fates of lonely young people, who are more or less successfully trying to find their true selves, are contrasted by Hančina's settled parents and a group of Japanese tourists eager to get to know a "typical" Czech family... The authors tell the stories of loners in the middle of the crowd, who feel helplessly dragged by a malicious fate within their economically comfortable lives, in a tragicomic position.

Up and down

Intertwining tragicomic stories about the fateful loss and finding of love, friendship, families, parents and children. A dramatic narrative about altruism and xenophobia, about our fear of the unknown, about the feeling of threat that awakens the demon of racism hidden in each of us. An image of the current existential feeling of Central Europeans, previously isolated behind the Iron Curtain, whose incubator is crumbling before their eyes and turning into a global village. Above all, however, an intimate story of several ordinary people who, after a long period of silence, separation and lies, seek and find the strength and courage to find each other, to forgive and reconcile, about their private journey out of chaos...
