This is the time of year when we regularly see a new edition of our sports games. Following the example of FIFA, NHL, and NBA, one of the most popular soccer games on smartphones is also coming out with a new edition – Dream League Soccer 2021 from First Touch Games.
First of all, it should be said that major changes were not expected, at least not after audiovisually, as DLS came with a new engine and menu environment last year and it was a significant change to the established standard. But let's start from the beginning. If you haven't played DLS 2020, you will be taken to a "village" club in the worst league, where you will choose one of the more famous players with an overall of around 80 points as your captain. After that, your goal is to reach the football elite through your own efforts. If you played DLS 2020, the rosters, tactics, players and money with diamonds remained untouched. So you can continue where you left off in the previous year.
If we look at the menu, the tiles have become lighter, which can be a problem for some people, especially in the evening, as the brightness will really irritate you. The main menu offers an exhibition, a friendly match to test tactics, formations, etc. There is also multiplayer, which works well as in the previous version. So you won't encounter any delays and everything works pretty smoothly. There is also of course a career, where you will conquer the football Everest in the league and two cups. After these competitions, there should also be the World Cup and matches against the best teams from the continents. But I haven't played the season yet. nestI haven't finished it yet, so I can't confirm this.

There are two payment methods again, namely coins and diamonds. You use coins to buy players, restore their energy after a match, or improve the stadium. You can spend diamonds on healing injured players, buying random players, player collections, buying new lineups, and basically everything you could see in DLS 2020. You get diamonds through microtransactions or by completing achievements during the season. I was unpleasantly surprised by the Team Management tab, where you heal your team and choose a lineup. It has become quite confusing since last year. While in DLS 2020 the energy status of each player was clearly visible, now you only have a small indicator in the tab. At the same time, the option to regenerate the entire team at the same time has disappeared. Instead, there is a new feature called Physios, in which you regenerate your team by a certain percentage for a fixed amount of money. This option is of course more expensive. So it's best to click on each player and heal them separately, no matter how stupid this solution is. You then improve the players in the classic way by selling players, where you have the option to choose whether their fitness or technical skills will improve. The degree of improvement depends on how good the player being sold is. But now let's get to the game itself.
The pre-match animations have not changed and are completely identical. What has changed, however, is the movement of the players. Again, their movement with and without the ball feels a bit more natural. In my opinion, the defending of the opponent and the oponent now better estimates your passes and blocks. Shooting has also received changes. In DLS 2020 we haveoneThey were really well received and players sometimes scored goals from outside the penalty area, which was almost unthinkable in previous versions. You can still score goals from a distance now, but it won't be as frequent. MbappI have improved it so that it has a shooting speed of 100. In the previous year, it was often enough to get to 25 meters and shoot. This is no longer the case with DLS 2021. Players do not always succeed in shooting, and of course it is more visible in players with lower ratings. This can of course be evaluated positively, because even the best shooters stumble. Shooting with the weaker leg has also significantly worsened and it must be said that in most cases the shot will be bad. But everything will probably just be a matter of habit.
What is surprising, however, is the occasional handling of the ball by the player. It has happened to me several times that a player handles the "maroon" with a twist, when he makes an arc around the ball with his left foot. It is difficult to describe, but anyone who watches football and sees it will immediately understand. This animation looks really stupid and players do this "strange handling" even when it is not appropriate. I have also come across completely meaningless goals, when a player puts the ball over his foot with his first foot and hits the post. As a big football lover, the color of the turf, which is a bit more colorful and sometimes looks like something from Fortnite, really gets on my nerves. But now for the good. Although I said in the introduction that we are big audiovisual changes couldn't wait, the graphics of the players seem a bit better to me. At the same time, new animations can be seen during the game. Another welcome news for me is that the animation is not always interrupted during a throw-in. Sometimes the opponent runs up, takes the ball and throws it. The good news is that you can see the real photo of the players, the bad news is that only some of them have it. Let's hope that First Touch Games will add photos over time.
Because I've been playing Dream League Soccer since I owned it iPhone 6, I can't be mad at the creators for a few stupid things. For me, DLS 2021 is another great piece of work that will keep me entertained for dozens of hours. If you're interested in the game, you can download it under this paragraph. For now, I'm going to save up for Chelsea's amazing signing Kai Havertz.
