Apple has been trying to slowly replace physical payment cards with its service for the third year Apple Pay, which works exclusively on Mac, iPhone, and thus also in Apple Watch. But credit and debit card manufacturers do not give up, so they come up with their own innovations. The biggest news in recent years now represents Master Degrees Card, which integrated a fingerprint reader into payment cards.

The company says it has managed to integrate the reader into the card without changing its dimensions, especially its thickness. In addition, the sensor does not require an integrated power source, as it draws power directly from the terminal to which the user presents the card. MastercarHe revealed to CNET that the terminals will not need to be modified either, the new cards will work with the existing ones.

The reader in the card will bring one main advantage – the user will no longer have to enter a PIN or even sign at the terminal. However, the new card will not be as secure as for example Apple Pay. Its owner will have to visit his bank, where he will have his fingerprint scanned and the bank will upload the necessary data to his card so that the reader can authenticate him during payment.

Master Degrees Card also said that the first version of the card with a reader will not be contactless, so its owners will be forced to insert the card into a payment terminal. However, the company said that it is currently working on a contactless version, which suggests that we could see it in a matter of months.

The card with the reader has begun testing in South Africa, where Master has alreadyCard has completed two pilot tests. More will now continue in Europe and Asia. The card should then reach the United States early next year.
