Streaming music content is very popular. In this day and age of high or unlimited data limits and almost 100% network coverage in the country, most people prefer streaming music as opposed to music stored on their phones. The biggest star in the music streaming field is undoubtedly Spotify. Apple has been trying for almost a year to enter this area of the market with its Apple Music, but it's Spotify that's seeing record numbers of paying users. And this trend started right around the time the service Apple Music came to the market.
Apple Music reached 11 million paying customers in 13 months of operation. In contrast, Spotify recently announced that they had surpassed the 30 million paying customer milestone. At the time of launch Apple Music, i.e. last June, Spotify had just under 20 million subscribers. The total number of active users also increased over the same period, from 75 million to 100 million.
"It's great that you Apple added to the industry. Thanks to this, the general awareness of what streaming services actually are is rising. We are glad that we are not alone in this, because it is difficult to build a certain business alone. Ever since Apple Music entered the market, we are growing faster than ever before,” said Spotify CEO, Jonathan Forster.
Apple Music certainly helped to further popularize similar services. Spotify was founded in 2008 in Europe, and came to the US in 2011. In May 2014, it had only 10 million paying users, so it has grown by more than 200% in the last two years. However, the company continues to operate at a loss, as it pays huge sums to individual artists. However, it believes that together with the increase in the number of paying customers, they will get into the green.

Well, this sentence really amused me. What of this is realistic in CZ???
Both? An unlimited tariff can be "begged" from the operator with a little goodwill. And sufficient coverage is probably everywhere outside the outright border areas (at least from my personal experience).
@Dominik Zuna: I would like to see which of the three thieves you would "beg" for unlimited FUP, because even corporate customers do not have such an option. And if "purely theoretically by chance" then believe me, at least in this country such line utilization would not be tolerated. Regardless of the fact that music streaming here is not as good as elsewhere.. And speaking of coverage - for example, as soon as I leave Prague in any direction, LTE usually changes to 3G in which, wonder of the world, I rarely open a page today thanks to the way it is designed today..
I have a plan of 1GB per month and it works fine with Spotify on 3G. So I don't know what you're dealing with here, but if you need LTE and an unlimited plan, it's definitely not for streaming music. :-)
As part of the company tariff, we have 3 GB of data for 99 CZK per month, so I don't use anything other than streaming :-) And if necessary, you can save music to your phone via WIFI...
I have 1,5GB for 60,-; 3GB for 90,- etc... I use the basic plan, I have never skipped anything, IP 6 – nonstop online, yes I disabled the update appstore and youtube on data :D
I have 2x unlimited SMS, 2x unlimited calls and 15GB in total... for 800... corporate... but in many places I only have E
The E is a joke, but why wouldn't someone open the page on 3G? That's probably a mistake elsewhere. With the iPad, 3G is almost everywhere with iPhonem is a little worse. The antenna gain and low throughput are noticeable, especially when you remove some of the plastic strips on the back.
I would allow myself to respond to the topic of the article :-)
I was using the paid version of Spotify and switched to Apple Music. There weren't a lot of records on Spotify. For example, from Led Zeppelin. Once Apple started his service, suddenly they appeared there. However, I stick with AM because it's cheaper. There are three of us using the family account and it costs us €8,99. With Spotify, it would cost us €11,99.
Speaking of prices, it should be noted that it is convenient to subscribe to Spotify on their site spotify.com. I think it is 2-3 € cheaper than through appstore.
Tomkv: A family account for three actually costs 11.99. But since they are always at a loss, it probably won't be cheaper.
It goes beyond that. appstore? Spotify is already multiplatform in principle. When I was dealing with it, it was on Windows.
