Even before the arrival of the new iMac with Retina With a 5K display, our website informed you that Dell introduced its external monitor with 5k resolution. The exact resolution of the display is 5120×2880 on a 27″ screen diagonal. On this diagonal, it makes exactly 14,745,600 pixels. The density of the Dell display is 218 ppi. Shortly after Apple introduced its iMac with Retina 5K display, which also has a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels, which is again 27 million pixels on 14,745,600″. So we can say that the displays are exactly the same, but Apple presented not just a display, but a whole computer that is built into the screen, so the price becomes the biggest attraction.
Dell your monitor on your site it still sells for $2500, which after conversion and tax is about 64 CZK. However, that should change in December and the price of this monitor should drop below $000. Apple your iMac with Retina The 5K display sells for $2499 in the basic version, which is a dollar cheaper in the US than if you just bought a Dell monitor right now. Apple however, it has a slightly different pricing policy in the Czech Republic and the iMac is sold here for CZK 69. Of course, Dell is aware that it can't sell its monitor at this price tag when Apple offers a full-featured computer for the same price. Therefore, Dell decided to make its monitor with 5K resolution cheaper, just below the mentioned $2000. The discount is quite decent, but it is still more worthwhile to buy an iMac, which also has good hardware features.
If he had been Apple he made it possible for the new iMac to be fed from an external source as well (that is, to be used as a separate monitor), so Dell could stick his monitor somewhere. Damage.
Jarys – I have a similar opinion. I want a desktop computer with a good picture, but I have an xbox on the shelf above my monitor and I need to connect it to something to play. Unfortunately, this is a feature that completely eliminates the iMac from the selection.
I will buy 4K from Samsung for 14K
JKJ - you will be quite out of this league in terms of quality :D
You are clever, but it has been clearly stated here several times that the current revision of DisplayPort cannot handle 5K transmission.
I would wait until the second generation before the problems are solved and then I would go for it.
And what would you recommend as an external monitor for Macbook pro 15 Retina? To match the quality of Retina…
The difference between 4k and 5k is about the difference between 400 and 500ppi on a phone when viewed from a normal distance. And to say that a mac is more advantageous in that case is nonsense, for someone who wants a specialty for work, maybe hey, but for someone who also wants to play, the Mac is not worth it, since you will have to switch to 2560x1440 for gaming. And about the price - within half a year from the release of this dell, there will be 5k monitors for 500-600 euros, I'll give it my all.
Who on earth would pay so much money for a monitor, when for an additional payment of about 10000 CZK you can also get a beautiful calculator. I know! Perhaps only Radek Hulán:)))
Pro It will be relevant to me when it's 4K for 4K, or 5K for 5K. .)
it will be overpriced in no time :)
