One of the best features of OS X Yosemite is the great integration between your Mac and iOS device. Function Continuity a Handoff have created a collaboration that helps with everyday activities, after all, it is really useful to call from a Mac via iPhoneIf you want to call this way, you need to turn on FaceTime or Contacts, which will take you to the number you want to call. There's also the option to use Spotlight, just type in the name or number and the contact will appear.
But someone is used to calling via the classic dialer. Not everyone is familiar with the system and therefore does not know what FaceTime is. Some people like old habits, and some people simply enjoy small things. This is exactly why the app was created Continuity Keypad, which works exactly like on iPhone. It serves as a connection between you and FaceTime. You enter a number using the dial pad (including the familiar audio feedback), click the green button, and OS X automatically turns on FaceTime and starts calling the requested number. The app also includes the ability to add the number to your contacts, add a handy widget to the notification center, but that's all it does Continuity Keypad can do it for now. The developers hope to release this application as soon as possible in Mac App Store for $0.99 with additional features, but you can currently download it as a beta here.
But the question is whether Continuity Keypad will be released at all. The application looks exactly like on iPhone. Moreover, it is something that perhaps Apple plans to release in the future. Another problem may be the title, which includes "Continuity,” which probably violates the rules Apple. Nakonec is the functionality – after all, this application does something that is already included in Yosemite, just in a different way.
On Mac, I use Spotlight to call, where I write a name and call immediately. This is for someone who wants to call and doesn't have people in their contacts.
I don't know if it's time to turn on this or facetime
I can also say that calling via Mac is a great thing. But I would like to ask how it is actually connected, whether via wifi or what. ProI need to be sure that the call will last for an hour without ending, that would be a huge hassle.
