Prothat we all use a lot at home Apple products, must not be missing in our household, next to iPhone and other "classics" Apple products and Apple TV as a smart accessory for our television. We have been actively using it for a long time, both as a home center for remote control HomeKitua as a place for easy multimedia consumption. At home, we already removed the classic TV antennas years ago, so we are going to IPTV in combination with Plex, which is de facto our own video library, and streaming services. In addition, we also like the great synchronization with shared albums for viewing photos and the like. In short, on Apple TV is definitely not gathering dust at our house. I was even more upset yesterday when the remote control suddenly broke in a rather bizarre way.

Although we have Apple TV We use a newer controller with the 4K 1st generation, the model released in the fall of 2017, because the original black one with the large touchpad died overnight about four years ago. That's why I didn't hesitate to reach for the new generation controller with an aluminum body, and at that time it was still Lightning a port that, given its relatively robust aluminum body, I thought that nothing could happen to it. But now I know that's not true.

Even though we don't drop the controller and handle it carefully, or miniAlmost completely standard, when I picked it up yesterday and pressed the on/off button, this small round button remained "stuck" on my finger. The plastic "legs" that hold it in the body of the remote control cracked for some unknown reason and the button fell out. Fortunately, I noticed it and it didn't fall anywhere, which would probably mean a quick fix in a household with a one-year-old baby and a robot vacuum cleaner.onec.

I must admit that this glitch, besides being annoying, also surprised me quite a bit. After all, the remote control Apple TV It's not exactly cheap, and if you don't treat it badly, you'd expect it to last. Out of curiosity, I sat down at my Mac and started searching the internet. search, whether anyone has encountered similar problems. And, wow, I found so many posts with exactly the same problem that I almost think I was actually quite lucky that my button only fell out now after four years. I even found stories of unfortunate people from the USA whose button fell out after 13 months, which is quite annoying considering the 12-month warranty there.

Unfortunately, contributors agree that there is no reliable fix for this problem, as there is no driver available. Apple TV completely designed for home repairs. However, there are temporary solutions that work perfectly fine. One of them is to buy a cover for the remote control that wraps around the entire body and thus captures the falling out remote control in the body so that the button cannot come out and is therefore still usable. The second repair, which I also reached for, is even easier - in the end, all you need is some duct tape and gluing the front part with the button. This will still remain movable under the tape and logically cannot fall out. Thanks to this, the remote control is still fully usable and it is not a massacre in terms of appearance.

So if you encounter something similar, don't panic, because you are far from alone in having encountered something similar. Fortunately, the solution is not complicated, although you have to accept the fact that you won't get the original clean design completely. On the other hand, if I have to choose between seeing slightly transparent tape on the remote control or paying 1500 CZK for a new one, even though the old one actually still works perfectly, the choice is clear.
