Apple is preparing to introduce its first foldable in less than two weeks iPhone Ultra As if on a monster, photos of another interesting folding phone have just appeared. Xiaomi 18 Fold It was leaked before the official launch and at first glance it is clear that Xiaomi is going in a very similar direction to AppleBoth phones are supposed to offer a so-called book design, which when opened turns into a device resembling a small tablet.
Xiaomi 18 Fold is scheduled to be introduced in September and, according to available information, it will also be the first Xiaomi phone powered by its new proprietary XRING 03 chip. The company has not yet revealed the exact release date or complete specifications, but the leaked photos give a fairly good idea of what is coming.

Xiaomi goes the wide display route
At first glance, the most interesting thing is the shape of the phone itself. Xiaomi 18 Fold It is significantly wider than some older foldable phones and, when unfolded, is supposed to offer a display with an aspect ratio that is much more suitable for working with two apps side by side or for using the phone as a small tablet.
Other manufacturers have been moving in this direction recently. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 chose a wider design and a similar approach is expected for the first foldable iPhoneThe classic tall folding phone is slowly becoming a device that is much closer when unfolded. iPad mini than the usual iPhone. And that makes sense to me. If you're going to pay a lot of money for a foldable phone, you want to get something that has a real advantage over a traditional smartphone when you open it.
The color is also interesting
Leaked photos show Xiaomi 18 Fold in a dark red shade, which makes the whole story a bit confusing. The same red color has also appeared in alleged renders of the foldable phone in recent days. iPhone. Posted by a friend leaker Evan Blass, but they were subsequently questioned by Mark Gurman. He directly stated that the renders came from Xiaomi and are not the actual appearance of the foldable phone. iPhone. Apple moreover, according to him, neither red nor green variantu is not preparing its foldable phone.
In other words, Xiaomi 18 Fold could be exactly that phoneonem, which is behind the strange red renders that have been circulating the internet in recent days as an alleged iPhone UltraAnd if that's indeed the case, we've at least cleared up one major internet leak.

Three cameras and the new XRING 03
The photos also show a rather prominent rear camera module. According to available information, Xiaomi 18 Fold It was supposed to offer a triple rear camera, with the exact sensors not yet confirmed.
Inside, there will be a new XRING 03 processor, which Xiaomi is developing in-house. The company has already confirmed that it will be 18 Fold will be one of the first devices to get it. The chip is said to be manufactured using a 3nm process and offer a deca-core processor, with Xiaomi also boasting a significant increase in graphics performance. However, these claims come directly from the manufacturer and we will have to wait for independent tests. Xiaomi is still silent about the price, battery capacity, charging speed or exact dimensions. It is also not certain whether the Xiaomi 18 Fold will get outside the Chinese market.
About to iPhone Ultra
Apple so he gets another opponent
The timing of the leak is interesting, anyway. Apple has his first folding iPhone introduce September 9 and Xiaomi 18 Fold is also expected to appear during September. Apple According to current leaks, it will offer a book-style design with a wide internal display, so both phones will have the same screen size. miniAt least relatively close in terms of construction. Of course, it's too early to say that Xiaomi 18 Fold will be a direct competitor iPhone Ultra. Apple He hasn't even introduced his phone yet and we still don't know many of Xiaomi's key parameters.
But for me, it's interesting to see how quickly foldable phones are moving. A few years ago, they seemed like an experiment for tech enthusiasts, but today they are slowly becoming another premium category that every major manufacturer wants to have something in. And Xiaomi has shown that it definitely doesn't want to be left behind in this case. If 18 Fold will really offer a wide display, quality cameras and a sufficiently powerful XRING 03, it will have Apple shortly after the premiere iPhone Ultra another very interesting opponent.
