Apple today, without any major announcement, modified several models of its Magic KeyboardThis is not a new design or the arrival of any major feature, but a relatively subtle change in the labels of individual keys. If you have the US version of the keyboard, you can notice the changes almost immediately.

Apple namely for newly sold Magic Keyboard began using symbols instead of text labels. This applies to the Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Return, and Delete keys. For large variaThere are even more changes with the numeric keypad – you can now also find symbols on the keys Home, Page oops, Page Down, End, Clear and Enter.

Apple he made the change quietly

What is especially interesting is that Apple no new Magic Keyboard It didn't officially introduce it. It simply updated the products in its store, and the newly sold pieces have differently labeled keys.

The change affects four models: classic Magic Keyboard, version with Touch ID a varianty with Touch ID and numeric keypad. With the latter, changes are available for both white and black varianty. The only American version that has so far avoided this modification is Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad without Touch ID.

This is not a change that would make the owners of the current Magic Keyboard they should have run to the store immediately. Functionally, everything remains the same. Apple it just unifies the look of the keyboards with what it already uses on its newer laptops.

The same symbols now have new ones MacBook

This is the whole reason for the change. Apple already this year, similar markings were used on new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro a MacBook Neo. Instead of words, they use simple symbols on selected keys.  Magic Keyboard therefore only adapts to the new visual style AppleFor example, if you have MacBook and next to it you use external Magic Keyboard, both keyboards will now look much more unified.

And interestingly, the change doesn't just affect the United States. The American keyboard layout is also the default in countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. In European countries, variain the meantime Apple has been using similar symbols for a long time.  At first glance, this is a completely trivial matter. Nevertheless, I find it quite interesting to observe how Apple it is gradually unifying such details across its hardware. Magic Keyboard has not changed technically at all today, but Apple quietly instilled in her the same visual language that his latest works already use MacBook.
