Apple and Europe have definitely not been the best of friends in recent years. And if you use iPhone in the Czech Republic or generally anywhere in the European Union, you have probably noticed this too. While Apple For many years, it brought new services and software features first to the United States, then Canada, the United Kingdom, and other selected countries, while Europe often waited. And sometimes it still waits today.

Just remember to Apple News, Apple Card, some functions Apple Intelligence or maybe Fitness+. Apple It has a long history of simply labeling certain news as “US only” and the rest of the world having to wait. But in recent years, another problem has been added to this – the European Union and its regulations.

Apple was increasingly harsh towards the EU

The situation changed significantly with the advent of the Digital Markets Act, or DMA, which Apple forced, for example, to allow the installation of applications outside the European Union App Store, alternative app stores, use of alternative payments or other changes to how things work iOS.

Apple However, it has long made it quite clear that it does not like this direction at all. The company has repeatedly warned about security and privacy risks and has even publicly claimed in the past that some EU requirements could make users less secure. As recently as last year Apple published a rather harsh piece explaining how he believes DMA is negatively affecting European users, and the situation did not seem to have improved much in the previous months.

When Apple introduced a new Siri AI, announced to European users straight away that on iPhoneand iPads at release iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will not be available. Specifically, he spoke of deep disappointment at the time and claimed that European regulators had rejected his proposals for safely making the feature available.

But now Apple turned

What is even more interesting, in my opinion, is what Apple announced now. In yesterday's press release Regarding changes for applications in the European Union, this time there was no further attack on Brussels, no warning of disaster, nor a long explanation of why the regulation is bad, quite the opposite. Apple he simply announced the changes and is moving forward within the framework of European rules. At first glance, this may seem like a small thing, but in reality, I think it is a fairly important signal.

Apple Of course, DMA still doesn't have to love it and I certainly wouldn't conclude from one press release that all disputes with the European Commission are resolved. But the change in tone is undeniable and if the approach is really starting to change Appto the European market, this could be very good news for us users.

They couldonemore features to come soon

So the most interesting thing about the whole thing is not yesterday's press release itself, but what could come next. Apple is already postponing or limiting some functions due to European rules. In addition to Siri AI is, for example, about iPhone Mirroring, which is still not available in the EU, while Apple he himself has stated in the past that it is the DMA that is complicating his efforts to bring this function to Europe.

And here we come to what I personally would like the most. Apple In my opinion, the Czech Republic should stop perceiving Europe as a problem region and start perceiving it again as one of its key markets. If relations with European regulators can gradually calm down, we could move towardsonewait for a situation where new features will not be added to the iPhone to Europe with a delay of several months or years. And I believe that the change in rhetoric may be the first signal that miniAt least "something" is happening and it can have a very positive benefit.

Of course, it is still too early to talk about the final resting place of the hatchet. But if in AppIf there is indeed a change in the way we view Europe, this could be some of the best news for European users in years. And honestly? After years of watching how Apple introduces some great new product and then below it in small print we find "available only in the USA", I would not be at all optimistic about it nestI was.
