Spotify has a rather interesting feature in the app that I think is not as well known as it should be. If you use Spotify Premium yourself, you can give your friend or family member a 3-month free trial of Premium. And the best part is, you don't have to buy anything or enter a credit card for your friend.

The option is not in the most visible place in the app. To find it, just open Spotify on your iPhone or Android and tap your profile picture in the top left. Then, you need to head to Settings and Privacy and then open the Account section. This is where you should find the Free Premium for Friends item. After opening it, Spotify will offer you the option to share a link that you can then send to anyone you want to give Premium to. And that's the whole trick. You don't need to know your friend's login details or set anything up for them. Simply send them the generated link and they will activate the offer on their account through it.

According to the offer that Spotify currently displays in the application, the recipient will receive 3 months of Spotify Premium for free. The offer is intended only for users who have not yet tried Premium. After the free period expires, the subscription will be extended by default at the current price, which is listed in the offer as 185 CZK per month. Therefore, if the recipient does not want to pay subsequently, they must cancel the subscription before the end of the trial period.
Interestingly, you can access the offer through your account settings, although it may not always appear on your home screen. Spotify can also present it differently to different users, so if you don't see this item in your account, it doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something wrong. In my case, the offer appeared directly while using the app, and then I was able to go to the Free Premium for Friends section. From there, all you have to do is tap on the share link and send it to a specific person, for example via iMessage, WhatsApp or Messenger.

Spotify actually offers a pretty nice way to give someone a few months of ad-free listening, but it's a shame that the whole feature is a bit hidden. So if you have Spotify Premium and have a friend who doesn't use it yet, definitely check Settings & Privacy → Account.
