Want to feel a little old today? Think back to the summer of 2017. Back then, we were literally inundated with leaks about the upcoming iPhone, which was supposed to be one of the biggest changes in the history of this product line. There was talk of removing the home button, an OLED display across the entire front, facial recognition, and a completely new design. I dare say it was even about Apple in terms of fandom and enthusiasm, perhaps the greatest interest in modern history, thanks to the hype surrounding it iPhone X. But that's a thing of the past - literally. Apple because a few hours ago this iPhone marked as obsolete.

Apple specifically iPhone X has included it on its list of so-called obsolete products, which in practice means that the device is no longer eligible for hardware repairs in Apple Storeor at authorized service partners. Apple It considers a product obsolete seven years after it ceases to distribute it.

And this is where one gets a little confused when looking at the release date. iPhone X went on sale in November 2017 and today we are in August 2026. So less than nine years have passed since its premiere. Apple however, he stopped selling it in September 2018 after the start of iPhone XS, so from the perspective of its service policy, the seven-year period has now effectively expired.

In the summer of 2017, it was a complete revolution

At the same time, many of us may still remember very well the madness surrounding iPhone X was all the rage in 2017. Even before its launch, new leaks, photos of mockups, and information about what it was all about appeared practically every week. Apple is preparing. After the start of sales, it was an extremely unavailable device, and anyone who got one under the Christmas tree was very lucky. I personally remember visiting an authorized dealer just a few days before Christmas and seeing a lady picking up the ordered iPhone X under the tree, with the fact that the salespeople at the time even talked about a small Christmas miracle given that very few of them came to the Czech Republic.

And there was no wonder. iPhone The X truly marked a turning point on many hardware and software fronts. It was the first iPhonewith OLED display, also brought Face ID and was the first to get rid of the iconic home button. Apple This also laid the foundation for the design that iPhones would be based on for many years to come.  It is also interesting that iPhone X is over in terms of major system updates. iOS 16. So even though the hardware has been able to function significantly longer, the latest generation iOS they haven't reached him yet. Now imagine that so much time has passed since then that Apple The phone itself is already being called "obsolete". And yet, it is iPhone The X is one of the models that, without much exaggeration, can be said to have changed the direction of the entire product line.

So the next time you feel like the tech world is not moving anywhere, try to remember the summer of 2017 and how we waited for... iPhone X. At the time, it was a futuristic novelty that was supposed to show the future of iPhones. Today, according to Apple officially obsolete. And yes, the time really did fly by so quickly.
