Apple patented a rather interesting system that could change the way we iPhone works with notifications. Its main idea is very simple - the device should evaluate in real time what you are doing and decide whether to disturb you with a notification or not.chat calmly.

The patent application was filed with the US Patent Office on February 5, 2026 and published on August 6. Apple It describes a system that monitors user activity and compares it to rules that determine when it is appropriate to display a notification. For example, if you are using an application for a long time, returning to it repeatedly, or are on a call for a long time, the system may evaluate that it is not a good time to disturb you.

This is the difference compared to the current Reduce Interruptions mode. According to the description, Applu assesses individual notifications mainly based on their content and sender. It does not consider what the user is currently doing on the device. The new system would add the context of the current activity to this assessment.

But the patent doesn't just apply to deciding when not to disturb you. Apple It also describes a way to create a short summary of recent activity. So if the system snoozes some notifications while working, the user could then view an overview of what they missed, which is quite interesting considering that Apple already offers similar functions. iOS 18.1 introduced AI notification summaries that can condense multiple notifications into a single overview. There's also a Reduce Interruptions mode that tries to let through only important notifications. The new patent could significantly improve these features rather than completely replace them.

Apple For example, it could better recognize when you're watching a video, making a phone call, or concentrating on work, and snooze notifications accordingly. It could then present them to you in a more organized manner, rather than interrupting you with each individual notification as you go along.

Of course, it needs to be added that this is only a patent. Apple can patent similar technologies without ever making it into an iPhone or other device. Moreover, the current application is still not examined and its form may change. Nevertheless, it is an interesting indication of the direction in which Apple can give. iPhone would not only have to decide which notifications are important, but also when it is appropriate for you to display them. And this could be more useful in practice than dozens of other new features that Apple presents every year.
