Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the company's most advanced watch, which was only introduced in September. But Garmin came out with its own innovation in the form of Fenix 8 Prowhich excel MicroLED display – as the world's first ever smartwatch. How do the two models compare in a direct comparison?

Apple Watch Ultra 3 has a body size of 49 × 44 × 12 mm and a weight of 61,6 g, which is well tolerated for daily wear. They are made of titanium alloy, have sapphire glass and are IP6X certified with 100 m water resistance. Garmin Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED are significantly larger. Their diameter is 51 mm and thickness is 16,5 mm, so they look more massive overall and are ideal for larger wrists. The MicoLED model is not available in other sizes. The upper frame and lower lid are titanium, in the middle there is a fiber-reinforced polymer. The glass is also sapphire, the resistance meets IP68/10 ATM.

The display is the main thing

Apple Watch Ultra 3 use 1,98" LTPO3 OLED Retina display with a wide viewing angle and a resolution of 422 × 514 pixels. It has a smooth refresh rate from 1 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Of course, there is Always On.

Garmin to the model Fenix 8 Pro deployed as the first manufacturer ever MicroLED 1,4-inch panel. Its resolution is 454 × 454 pixels, so it definitely doesn't lag behind here and is really subtle. In addition, it provides brightness of up to 4,500 nits, which means visibility in any conditions, even in the brightest sunlight. It also scores with vivid colors and contrast.

Battery life with a clear winner

42 hours of normal use, 72 hours in power saving mode and a quick charge to 80% in 45 minutes – these are the official values that Apple Watch Ultra 3 indicates himself AppleIn contrast, the Garmin model Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED will provide up to 10 days (or 240 hours) of battery life in smartwatch mode. With Always On enabled, the battery life drops to 4 days, which is actually still more than twice as long as the new Ultras offer.

The equipment is maximal

Apple Watch Ultra 3 of course fit perfectly into the ecosystem Applu, but it puts watches from other manufacturers at a considerable disadvantage, so it's a bit of an unequal battle. Garmin is trying, though, so if you access its game through the Garmin app Messenger, you can fully communicate with your watch even without connecting to your phone. However, you must have one of the LTE plans directly from Garmin.

When it comes to health and fitness features, both models are top of the line in their respective segments, so you won't miss out on anything essential with either one. However, it's important to note that both worlds are very different and approach many things differently, even when it comes to the same metrics. With Garmins, you generally have to rely on the Garmin Connect app and possibly Connect IQ, which is a bit more expensive than the Applu still –2 applications, which is actually an advantage (Apple Watch needs the Health, Fitness, Watch and App Store).

The price is premium

Apple Watch Ultra 3 can be purchased for CZK 21,990. You will get the best in them, Apple in the smartwatch segment. But Garmin is in comparison Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED They cost considerably more. You will pay 48,990 CZK for them, but you will have something unique on your hands that no one else around you has. This is also due to their availability, which is quite limited. You cannot order them online from us and you have to pick them up in person, for the whole Morava you need to buy it exclusively in Garmin Brno in Olympia, where they have them in stock.

If you are deciding between the two models, Apple Watch Ultra 3 is a strong pick for those who want a powerful and compact smartwatch with broad ecosystem support. Garmin Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED is the king of outdoor adventures, delivering the brightest display on the market and endurance that everyone can Apple Watch envy. But it sacrifices thickness, weight and, to some extent, availability.
