iPadOS 26 is one of the most anticipated new features today Keynote na WWDC 2025. And it will be even more pleasing to see it Apple has just been introduced in a rather grand manner. So if you couldn't wait to see what new features it has prepared for iPads, below you will learn everything you need to know about iPadOS 26. And there is more than enough of that! The system has not only received a significant change in appearance, but also a number of interesting features that definitely deserve attention.

iPadOS 26: appearance

Expectations were practically fulfilled. At first glance, it is clear that Apple when designing the new iPadOS 26 design, it was heavily based on visionOS, i.e. a system designed for Apple Vision Pro. iPads are getting a lot of semi-transparent glass elements that look fresh, modern, and at the same time unify the visual language across devices. In short – this is what’s going here Apple showed from the beginning Keynote for all its OSes. Whether this is a good thing or not is up to each individual, but one almost wants to say that it is not actually that big of a design change and therefore the question is how much more important it is to address it.

iPadOS 26: what's new

It probably won't come as a surprise that the presentation of new features for iPadOS 26 began with Apple a de facto recap of what iPadOS is looking like from iOS and macOS, because there is of course a lot of it, led by adjustments to Messages, etc. But then came the turn of major news in Multitasking, which brings a fundamental change. Apple has added the so-called window system known from Macs. You will be able to switch between individual application windows practically in the same way as in macOS, which is an absolute sensation. Working with windows in the form of various dragging files from one window to another has never been easier. And if Apple decides to enable support for saving files to the desktop in the future, then he created a de facto tablet version of macOS.

Although multitasking in iPadOS 26 is now very similar to that of macOS, Apple Of course, it does not forget about extensive touch support. And this is despite the fact that individual applications have not only tested the option of displaying in windows á la Mac, but also the Menu Bar for easier customization, settings, and so on. The catch, however, is that the Mac-style window mode is available (apparently) only after connecting a mouse and keyboard.

File lovers will probably be excited to see that, following the example of macOS, there is Apple allows you to recolor folders according to your needs. And if you often edit PDFs, then there is a new Preview application for you, which we know from Macs. It should allow de facto everything that Preview on Macs can do – i.e. various cropping, conversions, adjustments and so on. iPads will thus again become fundamentally closer to Macs in this respect as well.

In iPadOS 26, however, the possibility of customizing the microphone during video calls was also considered. Newly, iPads are getting voice isolation options and the like – everything we know from iPhones from last year. Calls from Apple tablets should be a little better again, which is great. However, they will not only score points in terms of sound quality. There will also be the option to record a selected part of the screen on iPads, which is useful for video calls, which you can easily record, save and then play and create notes from.

The system has also learned to work better and inform about background processes, which will give you better information about the progress of downloads, rendering, etc. Overall, iPads are becoming much more interesting workstations than they have been before.

iPadOS 26: release

iPadOS 26 will be officially released to the public in the fall, traditionally just before the launch of the new generation of iPads. Given the current pace, it is very likely that Apple will remain faithful to the September or October date. As for beta version, developer beta will be available in just a few dozen minutes, while the public beta will arrive in about a month.
