It was charged specifically through a wireless charger integrated into the Yeelight Staria table lamp, which offers a power input of up to 10W, but of course only Android phones can fully use it. iPhones are limited to 7,5W for classic wireless charging. In other words, faster classic wireless charging than what wireless chargers with 7,5W power will provide you.onem, unfortunately you won't be able to use it with iPhones. In the case of MagSafe, however, the situation is of course different – there you can enjoy up to 15W charging in the case of MagSafe 1 and up to 25W charging in the case of MagSafe2. So what values have we reached?
I placed the phone on the charger completely discharged, and it took about 5 seconds for the screen to pop up informing me that charging had started. However, the phone itself had not yet started up. I was quite surprised that it only happened after another 18 minutes, after which it started up and the phone display reported 2% charged. But then the charging speeded up quite a bit and within half an hour of first placing the completely discharged phone on the charger, it was 14% charged.
Of course, I also measured from the moment the system first started up (i.e., de facto from the 18th minute the phone was on the charger). In 30 minutes from the moment it iPhone 16e started, it charged from 2% to 23%. In another 30 minutes (a total of 60 minutes of charging since the phone was started), the phone was charged to 42%. After another 30 minutes, its battery charge level jumped to 61%. Another 30 minutes pushed the charge to 78%. After another 30 minutes, the charge level reached x%. To full 100% The phone then needed another x minutes to charge. So the charging process proceeded from system startup (2% charged) to full charge (100%) as follows:
- After 30 minutes – 23%
- After 60 minutes – 42%
- After 90 minutes – 61%
- After 120 minutes – 78%
- After 150 minutes – 94%
- After 16 minutes – 100% charged
In total, charging the iPhone 16e via a 7,5W wireless charger took 2 hours and 46 minutes, counting the charging time from when the phone started up to 100% charging. If we then count the entire charging process from the first time it was placed on the charger with a completely "drained" battery, the full charge time is even worse - specifically 3 hours and 4 minutes.
Is this time good, or is it absolutely tragic? To answer this question, we need to compare the charging time of the iPhone 16e with the times of other models that support MagSafe. For example iPhone 16 Pro supporting Qi2 (i.e. 15W wireless charging) you can charge from 0 to 100% in 2 hours and 30. As for charging with MagSafe 2 (i.e. 25W wireless charging), it takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes from 0 to 100%. At first glance, the charging times of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16e are not completely different. However, one crucial thing needs to be mentioned here, and that is the big difference in battery capacity. While the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro is 3582mAh, iPhone 16e got it It has a battery with a capacity of 4005 mAh. So if it had iPhone 16 Pro With a battery as big as the 16e, it will logically take much longer to charge.
It is precisely with this fact in mind that one almost wants to say that miniAt least in terms of charging, the absence of MagSafe on the iPhone 16e may not be that bad. Probecause given the efficiency of wireless charging in combination with the capacity of its battery, we would probably only improve the speed by tens of minutes. As a result, the absence of MagSafe can be regretted mainly due to the impossibility of comfortably attaching magnetic chargers, car holders or wallets. However, this problem can be easily solved through covers with integrated magnets, which they are already on saleSo maybe it's time to reconsider whether MagSafe is really that crucial in a phone when it can easily be replaced with a magnetic case.

I would even say that either it has a 16e Qi charging power higher than 7,5W or the 4005mAh battery does not correspond to reality ;-)
Either way, in the end it's quite usable, especially with the MagSafe cover :-)
The absence of UWB, which is an insurmountable deal-breaker for us, is all the more regrettable.

It's absolutely warm. minialmost, I was surprised myself :) when I took it off the charger, it was almost impossible to tell that it had been on it for a few hours
So it looks like high efficiency / low losses, or both good energy utilization and battery life extension with marginal degradation in both temperature and power consumption :-)
Can Jirko please test 16e Qi charging with an aftermarket MagSafe cover on the original MagSafe puck, will it have any effect on charging time and/or heating? Thanks a lot in advance :-)
