During our last trip to Vienna, my wife's friend and I left our kids to play in the park and ended up at the computer games museum below the park. If you go to Vienna, for example, House of the Sea, be sure to stop by the Gaming Museum Wien, which is right next door. The museum itself is located completely underground and uses the space of a former Nazi bunker, which was connected to the artillery tower, which is now the Haus des Meeres. The entrance fee is €12,99 for adults and the time you spend there is not limited, which you will definitely appreciate. Inside you will find games from your youth and if you are between thirty and fifty, you will be nostalgic. However, all generations will find something for themselves, although you will have to explain to the younger ones what a Floppy Disk is and why you put it in that strange hole in the computer.
The museum has everything on display, from the oldest Commodore 64, to arcade machines with legends like Pac-Man, Street Fighter or Mortal Combat. There is also the first Playstation, the Playstation 2 or systems from Nintendo, Sega, Atari and so on. You will also see collector's series of the most famous games in history, legendary gaming magazines and much more. But what is best is the fact that you can try everything. Every single exhibit is fully functional and it is up to you what and how long you play on it. There are cartridge, floppy disks, CDs, UMDs and other media with games that you can freely put into consoles and try out any game you can think of. I would say that about 60-70% of the exhibits also offer multiplayer, so it's great to go here with a friend or, for example, with your son and you can play together or against each other. No one limits you in any way and it's really up to you what and how long you play. Entry is unlimited and you can spend the whole day here. My friend and I had an extremely good time and the two hours flew by. If the girls and their son hadn't been waiting for us upstairs, we would have stayed here much longer.

The museum is also great for its location and opening hours. Even though it is located in the middle of Vienna, it doesn't play on holidays and you can visit it whenever you want, which is a really big advantage in Austria. In addition, it is located a few dozen meters from Mariahilfer Straße, which you can reach by a beautiful walk from the Danube via Kärntner Straße.
