Have you ever wondered what the greatest distance in the world is that you can travel from one place to another without having to use a ship or a plane? That is, by going only on land? One Reddit user was so intrigued by this question that he used Google Maps has compiled a route that he says is the longest route that can be walked on dry land. The incredible 21-kilometer route runs from Cape Town in South Africa to Magadan in the very north of Russia. The 528-mile, 13-kilometer route is unique in that it can be walked without using any means of transport or swimming.
According to Google Maps you would cover this distance in 4261 hours, or 177 days. However, you would probably die about 1% of the way through, because Google Maps They calculate that you will walk non-stop, so to speak. If we assume that you will walk 8 hours every day, without a single day of rest, then at an average pace you would cover this route in 532 days. Along the way, you would go across the whole of Africa, then around the Suez Canal, through Turkey, Central Asia, Siberia and all the way to Magadan. In total, you would pass through 16 different countries. So if you are planning to get bored in the next two years and you like walking, then this trip could be something for you.
and what about the "passage" through the black sea on that map? and is it not possible to go further towards the bering strait?
It's definitely possible, two Slovaks recently went to the Bering Strait to cross it while it's frozen
It seems a bit silly to me. All you have to do is detour a little and suddenly the journey is a little longer. So it's definitely not the longest way.
This means, of course, the most direct route from point A to point B.
Sure, we can all walk on the sea, are you competing again for the dumbest gibberish?
It is not the longest route that can be missed, as you can extend it anywhere. It is a route that connects the two most distant places between which it is possible to travel on foot
