With each new generation of iPhones, the quality of their cameras also improves – at least in terms of specifications. They usually Apple praises even within its KeynoteSo we pitted two top teams against each other, specifically last year's iPhone 13 Pro Max against this year's iPhone 14 Pro Max in a classic daytime scene. How did this fight go?

Previously, you could rely on the leaderboard quite well DXOMark, which evaluates the quality of photographic equipment, including smartphones. When the editors there tested iPhone 13 Pro (Max), it ranked in a very nice 4th place. Since then, only a few phones have surpassed it, literally. But a certain carousel has happened again in DXOMark, and a number of iPhones 13 Pro currently ranks 3rd. This simply means that these are still the best camera phones on the market and it is very likely that the new product will come out ahead of them in this expert test. However, it may not be only interesting to have such a comprehensive test, but also a direct comparison of both models. Night photography you could already see, just like a blind man photo test. Now it's time for the regular day scene, although it's true that the weather isn't very kind to us at the moment.

Since you can only take a 48MP photo in DNG format when shooting features ProRAW, so let's ignore these results also because they are extreme data that the web wouldn't handle very well. If you want to look at such images, you can do so hereAll photos are therefore captured in JPEG in the native Camera app. In the gallery of the iPhone 14 Pro Max A double digital zoom image is also included, which is made possible by the 48MP camera. MaxBoth models have a maximum digital zoom of 15x, which you can also find in the gallery, but just to show how useless it is. The first photo below is always from the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the second from iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The truth is that both cameras are at such a level that you will hardly notice the differences in a normal scene. Without adjusting the exposure and any other values, or using filters, it is clear that the new model delivers more accurate colors, which is especially visible in the sky. iPhone 13 Pro Max It tends to add more blue across all lenses. While such images are not as true to reality, paradoxically they are more pleasing. iPhone 14 Pro Max However, it plays better with depth of field, although the quality of macro images has not improved, this is especially noticeable when focusing on a close object using a wide-angle camera.

Even though we Apple he says, as he moved his cameras a bit further away, it doesn't affect normal daily photos. The same cannot be said for the nocturnal ones, i.e. the nocturnal ones, where there is no nearby source of light. Darkness is different, and here the novelty should really deliver better results, although even the photo of wooden horses or a dog in bed photographed for a portrait did not completely convince us of this.

iPhone 14 Pro (Max) is the best iPhone AppThere is no doubt that the iPhone has the best cameras and delivers the best results, but the intergenerational step is so small and insignificant in a normal scene that few people will see it and actually use it. Of course, it is different in the aforementioned ProRAW a mode that professionals can especially appreciate.
