A few weeks ago we WWDC saw the introduction of several great new features, both in the software and hardware fields. In addition to new operating systems and two MacBookto us Apple also presented a vision of his future CarPlay, which is currently publicly referred to as CarPlay 2.0, or rather the second generation. In vehicles that will be new CarPlay support, it will be possible to control air conditioning, etc., in addition, it will also replace digital alarm clocks and much more. Simply put, the interface CarPlay is displayed on virtually every display in the vehicle.

However, certain changes CarPlay has already been received within iOS 16. Specifically, there is talk of supporting new applications in the “fueling and driver options” category. It was not entirely clear what applications would be included in this category, but now we have learned the details. Specifically, gas station applications should not be missing here, thanks to which drivers should even be able to pay for the fuel they have pumped from the comfort of their vehicle. The HF Sincl gas station chain has already commented on this newsair, which currently operates more than 1600 gas stations in the U.S. The chain says it is among the new options CarPlay excited and definitely plans to create its own app that drivers will be able to use. These gas station apps could then also include a list of the nearest ones and other information.

According to developer support documents from itself AppHowever, applications in the new category mentioned must have functionalities that classic navigation applications do not offer, i.e. for example Apple Maps. Therefore, if only their list with navigation will be found in the gas station application, so Apple this application in CarPlay simply does not allow it. Other permitted categories of applications that can be used with CarPlay, include, for example, communication, charging of electric vehicles, parking, etc. Currently, the operating system is iOS 16, in which the aforementioned news will arrive, still in beta version – and it will definitely be for a few months. Of course, some gas stations already have it on their apps for CarPlay they are working now, but it is not written anywhere that drivers will receive them immediately upon public release iOS 16. In the Czech Republic, gas station applications for iPhone of course they exist, but the question is whether it will be possible to transfer them to CarPlay available with us.
