Although you can currently find a huge number of different smartphone covers on store shelves, the truth is that the vast majority of them are completely the same type and differ from each other only in design. With a little searching, however, you can also come across truly unique pieces that differ from the competition in many ways and thanks to that become very attractive to the user. Peak Design also tried to create exactly such a cover, and recently sent the result of its work to our editorial team for testing. And since I have it on iPhone I was the first to put it on and haven't taken it off for quite a few days (weeks), so it's time to evaluate it. So sit back, the review of the Peak Design Everyday Case is here.

Technical Specifications

Peak Design decided to create its mobile cover specifically from a combination of nylon fabric on the back, ultralightweight polycarbonate construction or, if you prefer, shells and rubberized TPU frames. The result is a product weighing a pleasant 40 grams with a thickness that does not significantly increase the size of the phone. According to the manufacturer, the width of the back wall is a solid 2,4 mm, the side and top bumper is 3,4 mm and the bottom bumper is 5,6 mm, which are dimensions that, in my opinion, will be easily lost, especially on larger iPhones - thanks to one trick that I will discuss later. And what do you get for these extra millimeters? According to the manufacturer, for example, protection from falls from two meters, which is definitely worth it.

The main difference of the Peak Design Everyday Case is the implementation of a magnetic-mechanical lock.onewhich SlimLink, thanks to which full compatibility with other products from the Peak Design Mobile accessory family is guaranteed, when in case of need for a firm anchoring, for example, in the case of holders, the connection simply "clicks" and everything is held as if nailed. For products where an absolutely inseparable connection is not needed (for example, wallets and the like), magnetism is used, which is known in the world of covers, especially in connection with MagSafe accessories. It probably won't surprise you that Everyday Case offers its full support.

As for the openings, vents, buttons and other elements of the cover, all push buttons are covered, while for the mute and volume switch, a traditional hole is cut in the cover for quick access. On the bottom side, in addition to the vents for the speakers, you will also find two mounting points for attaching straps, both from the Peak Design workshop and from other manufacturers. As for the back, in addition to the SlimLink, you will also find a raised border protecting the camera lenses.

Processing and design

Since I have known Peak Design products for a really long time and have always liked their design and workmanship, I was very curious about the mobile accessories (whose reviews I will bring you in the coming weeks), especially the cover. I was even more pleased that the manufacturer managed to keep the bar high here and released a truly first-class piece for your iPhone. The workmanship is absolutely perfect and I honestly can't think of anything I would change about the cover in this regard. As for the design, its assessment is purely subjective, but I still can't forgive myself for its high praise. Black sides in combination with dark, rubberized nylononem simply suits the cover and when you put it on your phone, it will give it both first-class durability and a touch of luxury. And thanks to the selected materials, you can be sure that you won't have to change it anytime soon, for example due to yellowing, scuffing, etc.

Testing

I admit that when I first unpacked the cover, I was a little surprised by its rigidity and the rather significant overlap of the frames into the display. Its initial installation on the phone was therefore not entirely easy, as it required a relatively large amount of strength, coordination and concentration due to the potential detachment of the protective glass on the display. The overlap of the frames does not interfere with it in itself (if you have it glued perfectly), but when you put the cover on the phone, the frames have a tendency to slide slightly under the glass at a certain point and thus tear it off. So you need to be careful about this. However, once you manage to put the cover on, the overlap of the frames will de facto merge with the glass, making itancthe risk of breaking the front of the phone is practically eliminated minimum. It is quite funny and at the same time clever that after unpacking the cover can seem quite robust precisely because it has quite pronounced frames. However, as soon as you put it on the phone, you will find that it fits into it more than is usual with covers and the robustness is soon gone. Sure, the cover makes the phone a little bigger, but it is by no means an extreme that would prevent you from using it. I myself use it in combination with an already quite large iPhonem 13 Pro Max and I can't really say that I feel any discomfort from the enlargement now.

As for the grip of the phone in the case, in my opinion it is very good. The rubberized sides and back, which are also slightly rounded, feel really nice in the hand and, most importantly, stable, so you don't have to worry that the phone will fall out if you don't have a good grip (unless you hold it really crazy, of course). In addition, unlike transparent cases, the nylon back is practically impossible to get dirty with smudges or regular fingerprints, which is why the phone still looks like new even after several days without any maintenance. And if it does get dirty, just wipe it with a damp cloth and the problem is solved. If you are wondering whether the molding to theonewhich SlimLink, personally, doesn't bother me at all. It's in the place where I usually place my finger, which ultimately just means that it's resting slightly below the level of the rest of my back. ProBut I really don't see the problem with that.

And how is MagSafe compatibility? Thank God there are no problems with that either. I used the cover in combination with both the classic MagSafe charging puck and the MagSafe stand on my desk, as well as with the MagSafe car holder and the MagSafe wallet from Applu, so from Peak Design (I'll bring you a review of that soon). In no case have I encountered a situation where the magnets in the cover of the magnetic accessory held poorly or weakly. So no matter what you attach to the back with MagSafe support, you will get the same or minialmost a very similar result as if you attached the thing directly to the back of the iPhone itself, which is necessary with MagSafe Wallet key. You simply don't want to lose the documents.

If you are interested in the durability of the cover, I can honestly say that I didn't actually throw it on the ground, because that would have been quite a challenge. nestandard use. However, I must also admit that it slipped out of my hand a few times, even with the phone.onem slipped out and the result was that the phone nestnothing at all – although of course, when it comes to falls, the angles of impact and a whole host of other factors matter. What I did test quite thoroughly, however, was its resistance to scratches, sharp objects, and the like. I mercilessly carried the phone with the cover in my pocket with keys, or in a bag with keys, small coins, and other “dangerous” things, and after about two weeks of this style of disposal, there is not even a trace of a scratch on the cover.

Summary

What can I say about the Peak Design Everyday Case in conclusion? Mainly because I'm so annoyed that I only got my hands on it now. In the time I've been using it, I've honestly fallen in love with its features and design, and I probably won't take it off my phone until the iPhone 14 is released. This is a truly perfect accessory that, in my opinion, will satisfy the desires of many users hungry for a jacket with a nice, miniminimalist design, MagSafe support, maxwith a minimum level of resistance and something extra (i.e. SlimLink), which allows them to use the cover in combination with the phoneonem can be used in a thousand ways. So if you have taste like me or are simply looking for a piece that will be reliable and will add a touch of elegance to your iPhoneancWell, you just found it. And I send a big thank you to Peak Design for coming up with a similar cover and at the same time I ask them to come up with covers for iPhones 14 (Pro) will come right after their sales start (mini(i.e. to the Czech Republic) because I will be the first to put them on the new "fourteen". The regular price of this cover is CZK 1.
