Last week, when Disney officially confirmed its plans to launch its video streaming service Disney+ in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and a lot of other Central and Eastern European countries, it made many of its fans very happy. The service offers real delicacies, led by the Simpsons, the Star Wars universe, and Pixar films (you can learn more about the content offer in our article below). But do you have any idea how much Disney actually charges for its service compared to the competition? If not, we are happy to answer this question for you.

Price comparison

  • Disney + - 8,99 Euro per month/ converted to CZK 219 per month according to the CNB exchange rate (we are stating the European price, the Czech price has not yet been announced)
  • Netflix – from 199 CZK per month
  • HBO GO – CZK 159 per month
  • Apple TV+ – CZK 139 per month
  • Amazon Prime Video – 159 CZK per month (now on sale for 79 CZK per month)

So as you can see for yourself, miniAt least, according to the conversion to Czech crowns, Disney+ should be more expensive in our regions than all the services listed with it. However, there is one big but. Netflix has the lowest possible subscription price, which many people do not subscribe to. For example, it only offers SD resolution or the ability to watch the service on only one device. To be fair, it is worth adding that Netflix charges 259 CZK for the Standard version, which includes HD resolution, for example, and even 4 CZK for Premium in 319K. Disney offers 4K "as a standard", so in the end it is no less profitable than Netflix. In addition, it is possible that its price for the Czech Republic will be adjusted to make it more attractive and the service will therefore have greater potential for growth there.
