A few days ago, an event took place that die-hard apple fans wait for all year. Specifically for us Apple prepared this year's first autumn ever Apple Event, which is traditionally the most important for this company. It is at this time that new products are introduced, led by the next generation of iPhones 13 and 13 ProThis year, however, in addition to Apple phones, we also saw the introduction of the iPad. mini (6th generation), alongside the classic iPad (9th generation) and Apple Watch Series 7. We are always looking at new products in our magazine - in this article we will look at a comparison of the iPad mini (6th generation) with its previous fifth generation.

Procesor, memory, technology

As is customary with our comparisons, we'll start in the bowels of the models being compared. Brand new iPad mini (6th generation) also features the brand new A15 Bionic chip, which can also be found in this year's iPhones, among others. iPhonech 13 and 13 Pro. On the official comparison page Apple does not say how many cores this chip has, in any case, we know from this year's Apple phones that it is a six-core chip, which has four energy-saving cores and two performance ones. It might seem that the chip will be as powerful as in iPhonech 13, but the opposite is true. Apple decided to throttle the chip and reduce its clock frequency from 3.2 GHz to 2.93 GHz. iPad mini (5th generation) then has the A12 Bionic chip, which is also available, for example iPhone XS. This chip also has six cores, divided into two performance cores and four power cores. MaxThe maximum clock frequency is then 2.49 GHz. iPad mini (6th generation) has improved performance by an impressive 80% compared to the previous generation.

When presenting virtually any product Apple does not state how much RAM it has. So we always have to wait a few hours or days for this information to appear from reliable sources. Now we know that the RAM in the iPad mini (6th generation) has a capacity of 4 GB, iPad mini (5th generation) has 3 GB of RAM. Both devices have biometric protection Touch ID, but it is processed in a different way. While with the iPad mini (5th generation) is Touch ID located in the home button, both on the iPad mini (6th generation) it can be found in the top power button, similar to the latest iPad AirWe would like to have a home button on the iPad. mini (6th generation) were searched in vain, mainly due to the reduction in bezels around the display. The new iPad mini (6th generation) also supports 5G in its Wi-Fi + Cellular version, while the previous generation can "only" LTE. As for SIM cards, both devices have a physical slot for nanoSIM, but there is also an eSIM.

Battery and charging

Besides that Apple Just as Apple doesn't mention the RAM capacity when introducing its products, it also doesn't boast about the battery capacity. The same was true when introducing the new iPad. mini (6th generation). However, we already know that the battery capacity of the new generation iPad mini is 5078 mAh, while the previous generation offered a slightly larger battery with a capacity of 5124 mAh. Included in the packaging of both iPads mini we find the power adapter, along with the charging cable. For the iPad mini (6th generation) you will find a USB-C – USB-C cable, for the older generation you will find a USB-C cable in the package Lightning – USB cable. Neither tablet supports wireless charging or reverse charging. As for battery life, Apple it gives the same data for both compared models, i.e. up to 10 hours when browsing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video, or up to 9 hours when browsing the web on a mobile data network.
