Apparently an interesting lawsuit is brewing. Seznam sent Google a pre-lawsuit request in December of last year, in which it requested damages in the amount of 9 billion crowns. This should have been created by the Czech company due to the impossibility of spreading its applications to products with the Android operating system, which was prevented by Google's agreements with device manufacturers.

The Chairman of the Board of Seznam, Pavel Zima, said that Google's behavior in recent years has had a greater impact than originally expected, while correctional facilities have practically no effect on market stabilization. As part of the upcoming lawsuit against Alphabet/Google, the list will increase the originally requested amount by one billion. In total, Seznam will demand 10 billion crowns from the global technology giant.

This is not the first time that Google has been pilloried for abusing its dominant position. One of the most fundamental decisions in this direction was made in 2018 by the European Commission. Google eventually came up with the Choice Screen feature, which was supposed to allow users to choose which pre-installed apps they want on their device. Contracts with equipment manufacturers were thus adjusted. "This is despite the fact that the Search service Seznam.cz It grew by 6% year-on-year and has so far recorded approximately 140 thousand selections in the Choice screen program. The formally introduced changes did not open the market sufficiently, which, in addition to the company Seznam.cz Other alternative search service providers operating in the EU also warn", adds Zima. Hopefully things will move on soon as this is going to be very interesting indeed. At the moment, however, it seems that Seznam can hardly win a similar dispute - after all, it is up against an incredibly strong juice with practically unlimited possibilities.
