US government agency Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) published a report a few weeks ago about the growth of Chinese activities in orbit. In this context, the US is concerned that China will gain the ability to shoot down satellites or disable them using lasers. The director of the aforementioned government section said that China is focused on building a leadership position in space.
