While in the past months and years the policy of updating Applu was very simple and raised virtually no questions, now it's a bit different. Although iPhones in particular are struggling after the release of the last public version iOS with a whole range of software errors, Apple Apple is holding off on releasing a patch for most of them. So far, surprisingly, it has only offered it to owners of the new iPhones 12 (Pro) as iOS 14.2.1. This strange situation continued tonight – OS 14.2.1 was also released for HomePods.

Operating system for HomePody is de facto just truncated iOS, so the release of its version 14.2.1 can be considered de facto as the release iOS 14.2.1 for other products. On HomePodech says this update is only 33,8 MB and in its description it states that it will be available for smart speakers from the factory. Applu brings “only” performance and stability improvements, which is a message that Apple it often hides various bug fixes and the like. It can be downloaded as usual in the Home application.

It's really very strange, isn't it Apple edition iOS 14.2.1 is doing this because it's not in the habit of doing so. It seems unlikely that the software will be released for iPhones other than the 12, but that seems unlikely given how annoying bugs plague older models and how far it probably still has to go before it's released. iOS 14.3 as very unlikely. Hopefully the next few days will bring us an answer to the question of why this is the case.
