For this year's WWDC he announced Apple small but very useful improvement to his App Store and how users can use it. Specifically, we are talking about the ability to share in-app purchases (or microtransactions, if you prefer) with your family, or simply share subscriptions to services that previously did not offer family plans. And these improvements became a reality tonight.

As is already the case AppAs usual, all sharing takes place via iCloud This is regardless of whether you subscribe to family storage plans or not. While app purchases seem to be shared automatically and you can't disable them in any way, you do have the option to share subscriptions. Just visit Settings – Your name – Subscription and set a new switch here Share new subscriptions to off or on. Of course, there is the option to set which family members should be allowed to share certain subscriptions and which should be prohibited. The only software requirement to use the option is to have at least iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2 on iPad, and Big Sur 11.0.1 on Mac.

It should be noted that not every subscription-based application will allow family sharing. Everything in this direction is in the hands of the developers, who have to set themselves whether they want to enable family sharing or not for their products. Whether or not they will make extensive use of this option is, however, at this moment in the stars. On the one hand, they would lose money because more people would start using one subscription and not just one, as was the case until now, but on the other hand, the user base of their product would increase significantly. The following weeks will show everything in this direction.
