In recent years, we have experienced a technological boom. Almost every day new amazing products arrive on the market that can make our everyday life easier in a great way. Of course, the concept of a smart home is hugely popular. That is exactly why in today's review we will look at the hot new tooth from VOCOlinc, namely the smart cleaner with the Air Purifier VAP1, which is also compatible with Apple HomeKit.
Official specification
Before we get into the actual testing, let's first take a look at the official specifications from the manufacturer. This is a smart purifier measuring 29x29x56 centimeters and weighing around 8,3 kilograms. In the case of this product, VOCOlinc states that the purifier is suitable for a room with an area of up to 60 m 2 . Its air output is 500 m 3 per hour, and in the case of formaldehyde, it is 120 m 3 per hour. But how does the air filtration itself actually work?

VOCOlinc relies on a three-stage filtration solution, which uses a so-called pre-filter, a HEPA filter marked H12 and a carbon filter. Thanks to this combination, the product can remove up to 99,97 percent of small particles (up to 0,3 µm). This means that the cleaner will not miss viruses, bacteria, animal hair, dust, allergens and various gases. In the previous paragraph, we touched on the possibility of filtering toxic formaldehyde. This can be released in the home, for example, from new furniture, carpets and plastics. Air The VAP1 Purifier can absorb it thanks to the use of the aforementioned carbon filter.
In the case of such an air purifier, we may be interested in its noise level. The manufacturer states in this regard maxat least 63 dB, when using maxIn silent mode, on the other hand, you won't even hear the product, as the noise level will be only 27 dB.
Product packaging
Of course, we could describe this cleaner as a relatively larger product, which is reflected in the packaging itself. This is a box that exactly describes the curves of the cleaner. As soon as you open it, the standard labels that inform about compatibility with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa a Google Assistant. After opening the package, you will find the purifier itself and the manual. Now you just need to unpack it and we can start testing.
Design: Modern, innovative and flawless
First, let's look at the appearance of the product. Let's pour some pure wine. Design plays a fairly crucial role in the case of an air purifier. This is not exactly the smallest device and we have to take into account that it will simply be visible in the apartment. Here VOCOlinc has done its job literally perfectly. Purifier Air The Purifier VAP1 offers a relatively simple yet modern look that will fit into any home. The exterior of the product is made of white plastic, while the upper part is gray.
We'll stay with the top part for a moment. As you can see in the pictures, there are wavy vents on the top, which play a fairly essential role in blowing out purified air. Other openings are located on two sides. Behind these are the filters themselves, and it is through them that air from the room is sucked in. At the top, we also find touch buttons for control. These allow us to activate the child lock or night mode, set the timer, change the speed or power, switch the temperature display from °C to °F and vice versa, turn on/off automatic mode, or reset the filter settings.
Let's move forward now. In the upper left corner there is a sticker with a QR code for pairing with a smart home. But the middle is more interesting. Here we will find a relatively practical display that can inform us about the most essential information. The screen contains information about the current air quality in the room (PM 2.5 airborne dust) in µg/m 3 , the current humidity along with the temperature and the status of the filters themselves. Below the display there is also an LED strip that uses colors to indicate the state of the air quality in the room. Green is the best in this case and can gradually change to red, which indicates very poor air quality.
As I mentioned above, VOCOlinc really nailed the design. The appearance is overall simple, but still interesting, thanks to which it is able to get not only your attention in an instant, but also, for example, an incoming visitor will ask about the product.
Product preparation and commissioning
Once we have unpacked it, we can start connecting it. Fortunately, there is nothing complicated about it and all we need to do is plug the purifier into the electrical network. But that is not all. As the manual advises, you still need to unpack the filters themselves, which you simply cannot do without. VOCOlinc for the sake of preservation maxThe highest quality filters are wrapped in foil. This ensures that the product arrives to you without a single sign of wear and tear, offering a longer lifespan than if the filters were left uncovered in the warehouse the entire time.
For this reason, we will have to remove the side covers. Fortunately, they are attached with the help of a magnet, thanks to which we simply need to gently pull and we are partially done. Now all we have to do is take the filters, pull them out of the mentioned foil, put them back in their place, plug the cover back in and we can turn the product on.
How does the cleaner actually work?
The purifier offers enormous potential and can elegantly clean even larger spaces. The high air flow is definitely worth mentioning. If, for example, you were to host a party, or if you happen to have drastically reduced air quality, the cleaner will take care of everything by itself without any problems. In practice, it offers two modes. Either you will regulate its performance according to your own needs with the help of an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or a Mac, or you can reach for the aforementioned touch buttons directly on the product. The second option is to activate the automatic mode and the cleaner will take care of the rest for you.
Practical application, perfect options
We emphasized several times in the review that this is a smart air purifier that is compatible with Apple HomeKit. ProThe duct can therefore be controlled through the native Household application. But is it possible to get even more out of the purifier? This question can be answered in one word – it can. And that is exactly what the VOCOlinc application is for.
VOCOlinc, or smart home manager
Application VOCOlinc works as a smart home manager and completely integrates smart products from the brand of the same name. With the help of this tool, you can control the smart purifier at any time without the slightest problem and, for example, adjust the power or set the product to automatically turn on and off. We must definitely highlight the connection of the application with the Home, where with the help of this program we can directly connect the smart product to HomeKit.
When we talked about the design, we mentioned the rather practical display that is located in the front. Here we can run into a problem quite easily. If we have a purifier in the bedroom, for example, we would like to be able to see the screen during the day, while at night it can shine in our face. With the help of the application, we can reduce the brightness of the display or turn it off completely without a single problem. But if you don't want to worry about anything, just click the AUTO button and the product will take care of the rest completely for us. Of course, we can also change the brightness of the mentioned LED strip.
In addition, the VOCOlinc application is awaiting a fairly major update that will significantly improve the user interface and make the user experience even more pleasant to a certain extent.
Night mode
If there is no quality air in the given room, the purifier logically tries to clean it as efficiently as possible. However, this can be a problem again at the moment when you are about to go to sleep and the relevant noise disturbs you. This situation was also thought of when developing the product, which is why we have the so-called night mode available. We can activate it again with the help of an application or a button. And what does night mode actually do?
Activating this mode will automatically turn off the display along with the green LED strip and the upper buttons. Of course, there must also be noise reduction, so the purifier will switch to the lowest power, which will perfectly reduce the noise and at the same time continue to clean the air. You can benefit from night mode especially at night. In our testing, I also used it during group calls and conferences when I didn't want to be disturbed.
How do filters work?
In the VOCOlinc product Air Purifier VAP1 has two three-level filters that are able to purify the air from larger particles to the smallest ones. The first layer is used to capture the largest particles such as dust, hair and others. Right behind it is the HEPA filter H12, which can capture microscopic particles such as bacteria or viruses, and thenonec here we have a third filter with activated carbon, which again serves for smaller particles and can also deal with chemical substances (for example, the aforementioned formaldehyde).
To ensure maxTo ensure the maximum service life and efficiency of the filters themselves, they need to be adequately cared for. The manual therefore contains a detailed description of their cleaning, which should be carried out once in a while. Unfortunately, the filters themselves are not "immortal". As soon as their service life drops below ten percent, the purifier will inform you about it. In Czech conditions, the filter should last 6 to 9 months and then they need to be replaced. Replacement filters should be available in the fall.
Personal experience, or why the product is perfect
I've been testing the air purifier since it was first released on the market, and when someone asks me what it's like, the answer is clear - perfect. ProSpecifically, the duct offers three sensors (air quality, temperature and humidity) that were able to immediately inform me about the condition in my own home. Although the air quality was excelsignificant, because the value of airborne dust PM 2.5 was only 3-11 µg/m3, so I felt the power of the cleaner quite quickly.
When I go somewhere, I use perfume and deodorant before I leave. These cosmetic accessories can easily make a room smell unpleasant if you use them outside the bathroom. So I tried applying the accessories near the purifier and after a few tests I was clear. ProThe duct can deal with perfume and deodorant residues perfectly, ensuring clean, high-quality air without any stench.
You might be interested in knowing if the air quality is better or cleaner. Personally, I have to admit that about two days after turning on the VOCOlinc Air Purifier VAP1 started out much better thanchatCoincidentally, I am allergic to animal fur, and although we have a cat at home, since the air purifier is active, I don't have the slightest difficulty breathing.
záver
If you live in a larger city or if you know that the air quality in your area has deteriorated, then you should not hesitate to buy an air purifier. With its help, you will return to a perfectly cleaned home every day. When we add a first-class design to all the functions, we have an ideal product for every home. If you also have a fireplace at home, you probably don't even know that a number of harmful particles are released into the air when you make a fire. These can be easily and quickly captured and filtered by the purifier.
The only obstacle can be the price, which amounts to less than ten thousand crowns. However, there are several things to be aware of. An air purifier can help you filter dust, hair, viruses, bacteria and various allergens. It can make life much easier for people with respiratory problems and allergy sufferers. If you calculate the extra price for several years after which you will use the product, you will end up with a rather ridiculous amount.
The review is comprehensive and honestly discusses everything, which is certainly nice. Unfortunately, the reader does not learn the most important thing – how capable the purifier is (it would be enough to add sourced information). Some foreign websites carefully focus on the most important thing – they measure how quickly and effectively the purifier actually cleans the air. Some cheaper ones easily put even the famous ones in their pockets :).
review? they are always written directly by the seller... just published as a review
I read your comments here almost every day and I can see that they are a one-shot show - rejpavé. So I don't know, but what you require from the review, do I see in it? Or at least I understand all this from the many lines regarding testing? But I understand, rushing is easier.
My comment is a response to Hardcooka. I guess I clicked it wrong somehow
I'll be happy to answer you :).
1) In the introduction, I wrote that the review is well thought out, I enjoyed reading it, and there is certainly nothing snarky about it.
2) An air purifier is there to clean the air, right? :-) And I consider the information about how it can clean the air to be the most important. Unfortunately, it is not in the review. I don't expect the reviewer to have a decent technique to measure it, but it would be nice if he supplied the information from another source (and it would be a really perfect and complete review, one wouldn't have to look elsewhere). That's no shame (to the reviewer), and no snarkiness (or anything ad hominem) on my part.
3) If you google "Pedante", you will find a lot of maniacs from SE Asia (eng) who pay attention to it in detail (in those agglomerations they simply have to deal with the air), and they provide this information (although, contrary to the review here, they do not provide other interesting info) because they (wonderfully) consider it essential info.
4) I apologize if I touched the reviewer. He certainly had a lot of work to do with it, you can tell, and I appreciate that.
5) Honestly, Pedant, I envy everyone here who is comfortable with the status quo. That certainly suits me too. Applu. To your-our detriment. Unfortunately.
Thanks for a very similar review! I already have some sockets from VOCOlincu and I'm satisfied... so I'm also thinking about a cleaner.
Please correct the viruses... it's ignorance, but viruses range in size from approx. 14-220nm... and since they are... mili, micro, nano, pico... So a 0,3 micron virus won't really catch it... the folded filter for a better industrial vacuum cleaner has 0,1 micron... for idea.
It doesn't have an ionizer... that's a pretty big minus
Unfortunately, the filter only has H12, not 13, so it definitely won't pick up viruses and it also doesn't have an ionizer or UV lamp that would clean and disinfect the air, like the ones from Winix... too bad,... support homekitIt's fine, but it still needs to be worked on.
Just do a little Googling and you will find that "The largest viruses (poxviruses) measure around 300 nm = 0,3 µm. So it probably won't absorb everyone, but some will, so it's not a lie..
