If you have been following the events surrounding Chinese marketplaces, such as AliExpress and others, in recent days, you have certainly noticed some (for us) rather negative news. Until now, we did not have to pay VAT for packages from Chinese marketplaces, that is, if their price did not exceed 22 euro. This is set to change soon (specifically from July 1.7st next year), as due to the amendment to the law, customers will have to pay VAT even for the smallest packages. However, we will not deal with this controversial topic in this article. Let's take a look together at how it is possible that shipments from China are so cheap, and how selling incredibly cheap products can pay off for sellers.

At the outset, it can be said that products are manufactured in China at the expense of quality. A total of six European consumer organizations drew attention to the poor quality of products from China at the beginning of the year. Over a period of time, these organizations purchased a total of 250 different products, 165 of which were found to simply not meet European standards. The selected products were supposed to contain, for example, a power bank with a battery that exploded, children's clothing that was at risk of suffocation, USB charging adapters that could cause a fire, and more. In short and simply put, everything you buy cheaply on AliExpress (etc.) was dangerous according to the organizations.

However, before you start telling Chinese manufacturers that they don't produce quality products, you need to think about this whole situation. These are the customers who buy cheap and low-quality products from China. Imagine, for example, that you produce two types of ice cream - the first is not so good, but it is cheap, the second is of high quality, but several times more expensive. Would you continue to make the second quality and expensive ice cream if you only sold one scoop in a day, while you would sell a hundred scoops of the cheap ice cream? Probably not. And Chinese manufacturers of various products are in the same situation. Their low-quality products simply have a huge market, mainly because of the price, when the customer does not look at the quality. Even in China, just like in the Czech Republic and anywhere else in the world, it is necessary to pay bills and fees, so people here have to make a living somehow. It can be said that as long as Europeans and the rest of the world use cheap and low-quality products, they will be made in China. Customers would have to think twice and start buying the expensive stuff so that China stops making the cheap stuff.

Of course, I don't mean that China can only produce cheap "scumbags" that necessarily make your life uncomfortable. Nowadays, practically everything is made in China, including really high-quality products. So it's completely up to you whether you decide to buy ten charging adapters for $1/piece, with which you risk things like fire and the fact that they will only last you a few days before they break, or whether you decide to buy one quality adapter for 15 dollars, which has protection against short circuits, overheating, etc., and which will last you, for example, a year. Of course, the majority of the population will choose the $XNUMX adapter, since it's less than fifteen dollars. Therefore, cheap products are not tested in any way, they use low-quality materials and their development is not complicated at all - this is precisely why cheap products can be created in China.

Another reason why goods from China are cheap is that sellers sell them directly from their warehouses. There is no classic resale, where a seller buys something, then someone else buys it, and thenonec another, when the price increases with each sale so that "every seller gets something from it". Cheap products are simply manufactured in a factory, stored in a warehouse and sent to you from there. In addition, it is necessary to note that the Chinese government supports all efforts of entrepreneurs to export their products (cheap postage). As for the amendment mentioned in the introduction, sellers are also trying to fight it. In European countries, various domestic warehouses are being created - this does not mean that the end customer will not pay VAT, but will be exempt from customs duties and other fees. In addition, packages will be delivered to them much faster, since they will not have to travel halfway around the world.
